Gunsmiths worked in makeshift workshops located on Telegraph Street until 1828 when George Washington purchased a building at 8th and Market Streets to create his own firearms production company. This company was called “Washington Arms and Ammunition Company” and produced cannons, pistols, rifles and shotguns. It wasn’t until 1849 that the first American manufacturer of revolvers, Smith & Wesson Corporation moved to Jacksonville from Hoboken, New Jersey. During World War II, Jacksonville was home to Gunsmoke Radio station WWJ-AM which aired military news briefings from various locations including Normandy during World War II as well as Miami Beach during Operation Neptune Spear (the Korean War). In 1951, WWJ-AM became WTVG when it merged with AM 1490 La Quinta radio station owned by Pacific Telephone Company (PTL) owner Abe Pollin. At this time PTL also bought ABC radio station WPBF/NBC affiliate KJRH out of bankruptcy then sold WPBF/NBC to Gulf Broadcasting Company for $850,000 in 1954 giving Gulf Broadcasting Company ownership of all UPN affiliates other than WTKA (now Fox News Channel) – one of only two UPN affiliates not owned by Gulf Broadcasting Company at the time (the other being WTKA-DT2). In 1957 PTL sold its cable TV company United Telephones Corporation subsidiary TCN Communications to Time Warner Cable parent AOL Inc., making Jacksonville one of only two cities along with St Petersburg Fla.) within Time Warner Cable`s service area; the second being Richmond Hill NJ.) According to Turner Broadcasting System Corporate History Guidebook: “UnitedTelecommunications Corporation had been formed earlier that year as an offshoot of AT&T Inc.'s Bell Atlantic unit after Time Warner Cable agreed to buy AT&T's cable systems throughout southeastern Connecticut and southern Rhode Island….TCN Communications would provide Internet streaming services under a new name - TWC Broadband Services….Bell Atlantic would continue providing telecommunications services…..AT&T divestitures began appearing elsewhere within Time Warner Cable`S systems soon after..” However AOL pulled out of Time Warner Cable circa 2000 leaving Jacksonville without any real local broadcaster so gunslinger programming shifted over to WFAA channel 8 where Pat Robertson still preaches today!

Jacksonville, Florida is a city in Jacksonville County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,852 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville-Hollywood-Bainbridge Metropolitan Statistical Area. The region that now includes Jacksonville was first settled by Native American peoples and was known as "Coconut Creek". A post office called Jacksonville was established in 1823, and remained in operation until 1907. In 1825, a group of English settlers led by Captain John Prentice founded the town of Broadwalk on an island in St Johns River. They named their settlement after William Augustus Jackson, an investor with British investors who had bought up land in this area during the Seminole Wars. The town of Jacksonville grew rapidly and by 1830 it had been renamed for General Andrew Jackson (the 23rd president of the United States). By 1840, some 200 English colonists were living in Jacksonville. By 1850, there were over 1,000 English residents living in Jacksonville. In 1855–1857, Jacksonville became one of six counties created from what were then three southern districts of Tallahassee County (then part of Spanish America) under act 527 – also known as "Black Thursday." This act abolished slavery within Florida and set about creating a new government for all its citizens containing equal representation without distinction on the grounds of race or color. In 1865–1867 Confederate soldiers burned down several buildings in downtown Jacksonville to prevent freedom riders from landing onshore to freedom eggs they had brought back from Georgia that year. On November 15th 1865 a small group led by Nathan Bedford Forrest arrived at Key West Airport with hopes of marching through downtown to Key West Castle where President Abraham Lincoln would be receiving guests prior to his return trip to Washington D.C., but they were arrested while en route when they reached broadwalk near present day Commercial Street before arriving at Key West Airport which served as their final destination; this event is considered one of history's earliest examples of lawlessness on U S soil leading to international outrage and ultimately its suppression by federal authorities instead thereof). On January 14th 1870 Governor Ishmael Reed signed into law 2nd Amendment To The Constitution Of The United States: "A well regulated militia being necessary to secure these liberties, no person shall be compelled within our limits to bear arms against his own will." As early as 1836 Clay Shaw operated a ferry service between Tampa Bay and Atlantic City called the Clara Barton Ferry Company Limited which crossed Nassau Sound using horses & mules pulling barges filled with salt water concentrate shipments bound for New York City via Tampa Bay

World War I interrupted this progress, but Jacksonville eventually recovered and attained national stature as a manufacturing center after World War II ended.
