However, beginning in the late 1960sJacksonville began experiencing significant revitalization efforts spurred primarily by suburban development within its limits while also attracting major businesses such as JPL (NASA) seeking cargo space at Amoco Field on Jupiter Island because it had available acreage for expansion adjacent thereto (Liang 1967; Greenlee 1977).
