The Jacksonville Beach Pistol and Rifle Club (JBPRC) was founded in 1907. The club had a pistol range that operated from 1911-1914. In 1915, the club moved to its current location, creating a shooting range for both firearms and targets. The club continued to operate during World War II, but due to the war, the range didn’t reopened until 1946. In 1951, the JBPRC established their own muzzleloader shooting league which still meets annually today. In 1978-1981, the JBPRC held an annual NRA convention at their facility which is now known as “The Showplace of Gun Shows”. In 1982-1983, the JBPRC contributed $5K to help finance renovations at the national rifle center in Alexandria, Virginia which was then used as an NRA training ground for new members and instructors. After many years of use by the Jacksonville Beach Pistol and Rifle Club, it was decided that it would be in better condition to move into new facilities by selling off some of its assets such as equipment and implements. A sale took place in 1993 and resulted in purchase of three acres next door to what is now known as “The Range Place” with plans for building a shooting complex onsite including a gymnasium/hallway/ballroom/multi-purpose room capable of hosting up to 100 shooters at once; an indoor shotgun range; and an outdoor rifle range with 20 lanes available for competition or fun! On October 1st 2002-3th2002, The Jacksonville Beach Pistol and Rifle Club celebrated its centennial year! With over 100 guests from throughout Northeast Florida join us this year for 4 days of Shootin' Gallery events including Championship matches on 2 different ranges totaling 18 hours total elapsed time! All proceeds went towards our centennial celebration fund which we will use towards future programs / projects that our membership desires

Jacksonville Beach, Florida is a city located on the Jacksonville Peninsula in Duval County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,871 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville-Boca Raton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to set foot in what is now Jacksonville Beach was Captain James Cook in 1785. In 1821, General Andrew Jackson founded and named it after him as Jackson's Landing on Jupiter River. In 1868, Jacksonville Beach became one of two communities in Duval County when it was annexed by St Augustine. It experienced rapid growth during World War I due to its position at the mouth of the St Johns River and its suitability as a military port for munitions production; this led to its nickname "Bombay Bay". After the war, however, real estate values crashed and JB lost much of its status as a tourist destination because it lacked any significant industry or businesses other than beach tourism. Due to these difficulties, city leaders decided in the early 21st century to focus on becoming an arts and entertainment town that could compete with nearby Miami and Tallahassee. This led to new development along First Street near downtown; such as The Riverside Theatre (now known as Boca Raton Arts Center), AmericanAirlines Arena (now known as Jobson Stadium), Jacksonville Landing amusement park and more recently Jaxx Place casino Resort & Spa which opened in 2017 next door to Downtown Disney. In December 2016 City Manager Rick Smith announced that they were working on developing a new waterfront park adjacent to downtown called "The Park." The Park will include an indoor/outdoor waterpark with three different levels including a VIP area for celebrities like LeBron James & Co., also featuring an observatory and planetarium with views of Interstate 95 out front!

Jacksonville Beach was founded on October 8, 1892 by J.M. Dezer as a landing place for steamboats on the St. Johns River. The first post office was established in Jacksonville on December 5, 1893 and the first store was opened in 1895. The population of Jacksonville Beach grew rapidly from its original population of only 100 people to over 2,000 people by 1915 when it became an incorporated town with a government and political structure. The development of industry in the area during World War I led to a increase in population and business activity along the waterfront areas of Jacksonville Beach and nearby Everglades City. The military used Jacksonville Beach as an airfield during World War II and after the war many businesses were closed but some continued operations until they were forced to close due to new regulations put into effect following the Vietnam War
