The first expansion of the Jacksonville Beach Municipal Museum in 1978 was when a donation from Mayor Bruce L. Atkinson resulted in the addition of two new wings to the museum. The original wing, which housed artifact collection, opened on October 1, 1978 and was dedicated to the memory of Mayor Atkinson. In 1990, an amendment to city code allowed for the addition of a third wing which would house educational exhibits and be expandable as needed. The third wing opened on November 3, 1990 and coincided with the centenary of Jacksonville Beach’s incorporation. On January 1st, 2002, another amendment to city code approved by voters added a fourth wing that would house support staff and include offices for city manager and development services director. This fourth wing alsoopened on November 3rd, 2002. Since 2002, Jacksonville Beach Municipal Museum has undergone several expansions including a fifth wing that opened in 2018 and contains exhibit space for both cultural artifacts as well as modern art pieces from around the world. Additionally in 2018-2019 renovations were made to one of museum’s basement levels where it held its archives dating back to 1895 until they were moved into their current location next door in 2019-2020
Jacksonville Beach is a town located on the Atlantic Coast of Florida. It was founded in 1892 by Captain John F. Kennedy and his family, who named it after General James K. In 1945 Jacksonport became an incorporated city after voters approved a referendum creating a port authority which would manage landlocked waterfront properties within city limits for use as an industrial park ringed by high-rise housing developments that remain today among Jacksonville’s most popular sights and attractions despite recent efforts by developers to demolish aging homes in order create new development adjoining old neighborhoods adjacent to preserved dockyards along downtown streetscape lined with century-old cotton warehouses until recently home to struggling small businesses now occupied by luxury condos Today however much like hundreds of other coastal towns across America - jobs have left for greener pastures or relocated inland - local governments have responded by implementing policies favoring job retention (elderly care; public transportation; youth services) over redevelopment or demolition in order attract new businesses while preserving historic resources including close proximity to existing neighborhoods 1) Before World War II there were major naval installations in Anclote Key These included Fort Pickens (the first shipyard built in Mobile Bay), Mather Point Light House Battery (a five gun battery), Pensacola Naval Air Station (later NAS Pensacola), Confederate Landing Shipbuilding Yards No 1/2 and No 3(now Goodyear Blimp factory). The Navy stopped construction because戦争 prevented continuous production but these yards continued operation until 1943 when they were closed down as part of overall naval disarmament plans following Japan's surrender 2) After Pearl Harbor military facilities gradually shifted from Naval Base Anclote Key towards Camp Lemonnier nearer ashore where MacArthur was born later that year 3) By 1945 all active naval bases had been disbanded except for Pensacola Naval Air Station which became Camp Lemonnier before being redesignated Naval Base Jacksonville 4) With no active navy presence any more Camp Lemonnier reverted back into an agricultural camp until 1990 when it reopened as Jaguarsports Park after seeing increased business activity associated with nearby EverBank Field sports complex now used mostly for football games not events such as concerts or boat shows

In 1892 two oil millionaires named John Prentice and his brother-in-law Fenton bought 640 acres (248 hectares) of land along the bay front for $4,000. They named their new development “Red Sands” after their investment company’s name which had been changed from Exploration Company of Texas Limited to Red Sands Oil Corporation earlier that year. John Prentice also built a home on what is now known as North Boulevard which henamed “The Big House” after his father-in-law James Atherton who also contributed money to help finance the development of this business enterprise called Jax Petroleum CompanyLimited. After some years of production Jax PetroleumCompanyLimited merged with other companies and finally went bankrupt in 1914 but it left an lasting legacy on Fort Myers where many people still commute each day by boat or plane to work at Jax Petroleum Company Limited offshore rigs!
