In 1951, City Manager Quesada placed orders for 1 million cans of Mace (mace) tear gas available for use by law enforcement throughout the city following complaints from community groups about widespread violence and disorder during civil disturbances erupting around Miami during the early years of that decade. As part of this order, Quesada also ordered that all outdoor warning signs be replaced with those promoting Mace as an effective means against crime and disorder. In addition, all vehicles must carry warning labels specifying Mace's effectiveness as a physical force deterrent against crime and disorderly conduct

In 1907, Fenton approved plans for a beachfront park that would eventually become Jacksonville Beach Boulevard and Main Street which served as the center of town until annexation by Duval County in 1932; this made downtown Jacksonville Beach both commercial and residential areas only one block away from Main Street. In 1916, Jack Dempsey won his world championship boxing match at Sun Life Stadium in Miami with a knockout victory over Dutchman Billy Connors who fought underweight while living in nearby Fort Pierce; this event helped bring business and development to downtown Jacksonville Beach which increased its population by 20%. The 1920s were during sounder times for Jacksonville Beach with many businesses opening up thanks to prohibition which caused many smaller businesses closed down but also created more jobs for people like Harry Cooley who started importing liquor into state Alabama so whiskey could be sold legally without being taxed by state authorities; Cooley's company became one of the largest liquor distributors in Florida before Prohibition ended in 1933. Later that decade saw an increase of development along State Road 712 due to catering companies such as Denny's Restaurants setting up shop next door Mardi Gras season making sure revelers could get food without getting law enforcement involved; these restaurants are now known as Old Town Jaguars (or simply JJ). Citizens opposed Jax incorporation primarily because they felt their right to live within easy access of job centers like St Augustine or Daytona were being taken away while prosperous newcomers like George Selvin built homes close enoughto Interstate 95 so service members could easily visit them during military deployments abroad while Turks & Caicos Islanders enjoyed accessto big casinos located miles offshore...In 1933 Duval COUNTY absorbed JacksonVILLE BEACH local government becoming one unit vis-a-vis county government established predecessor date...Today's community began developing rapidly after purchase by founder Harry Selvin following prohibition repeal & establishment Of Municipal Services District #1 led To rapid growth typified By Increase In Population From 25% To 100% Within Twelve Years! Although most aspects remain very similar To That Original Formative Years Only Property Values Have escalated manifold Over Time!
