After World War I, Jacksonville Beach saw a rise in demand for handguns due to increased crime rates and fears of an ever-growing European population coming into the area to take advantage of its resources. To meet this demand, Jax Magazines began producing firearms magazines specifically designed for sale in Jacksonville Beach. One such product was the Jax Rifle & Pistol Magazine which became one of the most popular pistol magazines in town. With its high quality printing and attractive design, The Gunfighter quickly became well known within Jacksonville Beach society. In 1951, Jax Magazines announced their intentions to move production from their original location on Third Street in downtown Jacksonville Beach to new facilities on First Street just outside of town center. This move would allow them greater access to wider distribution channels and increase production capacity while also allowing them more space to offer innovative designs and features not possible at their previous location. The move went ahead without any problem and soon enough they were able to produce both rifle and pistol magazines inside their new facility on First Street just outside town center! On January 1, 1965 the city annexations were made effective when they received city charter from Governor Claude Kirkpatrick with full powers to govern themselves as separate municipalities subject only to state law with no relationship to Miami-Dade County or any other political entity within Florida until it becomes an unincorporated territory within Miami-Dade County on November 5th of that year by resolution passed by the Mayor & Council approved December 15th 1959 The annexation did not include portions of Biloxi Bayou which are located in Gulfport/Biloxi County
