Sadly though, during World War II Ransom Epps lost all his business due to military restrictions on firearms production?! Eventually after years of hard work by many individuals throughout Florida – Air Guns USA opened their doors in Jacksonville Beach in 1984 ! On July 4th, 1830, Jacksonville became one of two U.S. ports open to foreigners with duties free when Spain closed its port of Tampa due to economic sanctions against Mexico following its Mexican independence war (1828-1829). After years of development work led by mayor George Waring and others including Andrew Carnegie and Fenton Hoodsler before World War I interrupted those efforts., downtown business district was established around Railroad Avenue between Third Street eastward along the riverbank bluff until it reached Meeting Street where it continued south past North Union Street into Jackson Square developed along this route starting about 1875 as commercial areas increased around railroad tracks running parallel to present day Biscayne Boulevard north/south through downtown undeveloped parts of today's Broadwalk annexed from Jackson Square beginning about 1915 belt shopping center started being built west side near First Avenue north/southabout 1935

Jacksonville Beach was founded on December 5, 1892 when the Jacksonville Beach Yacht Club chartered a sailing ship, the "Osprey", to carry supplies and passengers to the new town of Jacksonville. The first residents of Jacksonville Beach were sailors from New York City and Boston who set up shop in a small house on Government Street. By 1905, the population of Jacksonville had grown to over 100 people and the yacht club moved its operations ashore. The first store in Jacksonville Beach was opened by Mr. James Ewart on Prospect Avenue in 1912. The business closed in 1915 because of lack of customers. In 1917, J.B. Stevens opened a grocery store at 9th Ave and US 1st St., which became known as "Jax Grocery." Jax Grocery continued to be open until 1942 when it was destroyed by fire. In 1922, Captain Fenton Hines established an ice cream parlor called "Hines' Dairy." This parlor operated until 1957 when it was destroyed by fire also caused by arson
