Holly Hill is a small town in Collier County, Florida. It is located on the Gulf of Mexico and has a population of 4,731 as of the 2010 census. The community was formed by amalgamation of two adjacent villages, Holly Springs and Poinciana. The name "Holly Hill" was derived from the Indian word "hollowayn." In 1855, J.B. Hinkle patented land which became Holly Hill Village. The first post office opened in 1857 and continued to serve until 1860 when it merged with Poinciana. In 1865, a school was built and soon after, settlers began arriving to this rural area which had been uninhabited for over twenty years due to lack of water resources. By 1870, there were 12 homes in Holly Hill Village and by 1900 there were over 50 homes with an additional 6 businesses including a grocery store and three churches. The growth of Holly Hill took hold quickly thanks to its good location - close to Interstate 95 and Highway 27 - as well as its quality schools which offered education for both children and adults alike. In 1925, the first oil wells were drilled in Collier County and by 1930 they had depleted all available water supplies so residents began looking for new ways to generate income such as fishing or shrimp farming operations. However, despite efforts by developers throughout the years, no heavy development happened in Holly Hill until after Hurricane Katrina struck in 2004 destroyed many homes along with much infrastructure including roads, power lines, water systems etc., effectively ending any hope that this rural community would see significant growth again during that time period

Holly Hill is a small town in Brevard County, Florida, United States. Holly Hill was founded in 1892 by J.C. and Lillian Beadle and named for their daughter, Holly. The Beadle family later donated land to the town for a schools hospital, which became known as the Beadle Hospital School District. In 1927, the name of the town was changed to Holly Hill after its founding mayor, James A. Hills. The first post office in Holly Hill opened on December 5th, 1893. In 1932, a new Post Office Building was built on Main Street and it served as the town's headquarters until 1984 when it burned down. The current Post Office Building reopened in 1992 and is currently used as the Town Hall Museum/Libraries Complex. In 1978-79, Holly Hill hosted America's Cup yacht race which was won by USF students with their team mates from Melbourne University In 2006-07 season there will be an event happening at Hollywood Park called "The Race for Independence" which will include track events such as hurdles (200m), high jump (5ft 9in), 200m breaststroke relay (4x), 200m freestyle relay (8x) and 200m backstroke relay (4x). This event is open to all age groups so come out and have some fun!
Holly Hill was founded in 1834 by farmers from the town of Unionville. The town was named for the Holly family, who were early settlers there. The post office at Holly Hill was first established in 1837. In 1865, the town became a part of Jacksonville County and was renamed to Jacksonville.
