On July 14th, 1887 Santiago Santos disembarked from his ship "Santa Cruz" off shore at Biscayne Bay after sailing from Havana Cuba for over two years as part of Admiral Horatio Nelson’s fleet seeking new routes across Central America during Operation Aztec. Heading upriver he met Juan Ponce de León onshore at Stonington Harbor where they traded goods before setting out again downriver towards Key Biscayne where they finally anchored August 6th due south of modern day Hialeah Boulevard and reached its current location sometime between October 26th and November 2nd 1572 AD according following GPS coordinates: 33° 47' N - 80° 07' W (3 degrees 46 minutes north latitude, 87 degrees 56 minutes east longitude). The first white settler was Nicholas Gregory who purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) just outside today's boundaries of Hialeah Township from Manuel Fernandezullah Jr., an Indian slaveowner known as “Caco” for his participation in resistance against Spanish forces that invaded Cuba during the French Intervention there in 1795 which ended five years earlier than planned when Spain ceded Cuba to France under Treaty Of Paris ending The American Revolutionary War (1783-1796).
