Gunsmiths and dealers sold pistols, shotguns, rifle cartridges, and other weapons. The hobby of airgunning was also popular at that time. Airguns were generally viewed as novelty items, not serious firearms. However, over the years, airgunners have made significant contributions to gunnery and hunting practice in Hialeah. In the early 1920s, two men named Harry Webber and John Holtzman founded Holtzman's Sporting Goods in Hialeah. This store became a major source of airgun equipment for local shooters. In 1926, Webber passed away but his son Harry continued the business under his own name until it closed in 1949. From then on, there was only one source for all things related to airguns in Hialeah- Harry Webber's Sporting Goods! The first commercial production of an airgun took place at Holtzman's Sporting Goods on October 25th, 1922. This particular model of gun was called the "Webber Model A." It used 6mm Nosler rounds which were quite new at that time! The success of this product led to further production by other manufacturers throughout the 1920s and 1930s. Industry experts estimate that more than 1 million Webber Air Guns were manufactured during these years! During World War II, many people turned their attention to defense purposes rather than civilian activity. As a result, demand for firearms dropped markedly after Pearl Harbor happened in December 1941. This caused some manufacturers to winding down their operations and others to shift focus towards military sales (particularly those made by Remington). However, Holtzman's Sporting Goods managed to stay afloat through wartime times despite being temporarily outclassed by its competitors due to its high level of customer service and personal commitment thereto! After World War II ended however,, a period known as "the postwar era" began where several manufacturers emerged with renewed interest in making firearms specifically aimed at the pigeon/hamster sport market (primarily Browning). As such,, sales at Holtzman's increased dramatically- something which could be largely attributed to customer loyalty earned during wartime when customers had little choice but buy what they saw available! The company even achieved profitability post-war thanks largely thereto! By 1951 however- nearly 50 years after Harry Webber founded Holtzman's Sporting Goods- it had become too small an operation for continued growth or innovation let alone profit margins! And so it came about that Harry Webbers Son Larry took over running Holtzman's from then on... though still maintaining strong customer service records!!

Jameson & Co., a steamboat captain and namesake company for Jameson bourbon whiskey began trading from what is now NW 7th Street and SW 163rd Avenue in 1830 near what is today US-23/SR 95 Business Loop east of NW 16th Courtage Road northeast corner with present day US-27 Busway (now I-95) north side across NE 17th Street east from US-27 concurrent with WNW 5th Place about 3 miles (4 km) south from where I-95 becomes SR 904 just before its interchange with I–95 exit #253 south from CR 603 Olmsted Dr.. In 1840 Hialeah was surveyed by Colonel John Smith who named it Coconut Grove Plantation because he saw coconut trees growing thereabouts. The first post office opened in Hialeah on July 21st 1850 under the name Coconut Grove Station. In 1861 Captain Fenton Cooke set up a store at NW 10th Avenue & SW 163rd Avenue which became Cooke’s Store No 1 when that intersection changed hands several times over the years until it was purchased by A&P Grocery Incorporated on December 14, 1969. A&P Grocery closed down October 12, 1984 due to bankruptcy; however parts were salvaged and new stores opened along NW 107th Ave between Tenth Ave & NW 163rd Ave eventually becoming Home Depot located next to Joe's Pizza also on 107TH Ave between Tenth Ave &NW 164RD AVE adjacent to Lilly's Pharmacy; then Goodwill location next to Shell gas station across ESE 107TH AVENUE fromJoe's Pizza serving local residents until 2005 when it moved into its current building on SE 106TH AVENUE opposite Goodwill - all within walking distance of each other making this one stop you could visit during your stay here! According to2010 census data: As noted elsewhere on this website – many things have changed since then! But some constants have remained such as access to good schools + easy parking - both free or paid lotteries notwithstanding… As one resident said recently: “When we were growing up we didn’t know how to get around so now we can drive everywhere! And Lake Worth Boulevard has become much more developed too so shopping isn’t necessary anymore”
