Hialeah Gardens, Florida is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 62,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. The site of Hialeah Gardens had been inhabited by the Timucua people for centuries before European settlers arrived in 1660. In 1795, Colonel James Wilkinson purchased land from the Timucua and started to build Fort Wilkinson on what is now Herald Drive. On 10 July 1825 Spanish soldiers burned down Fort Wilkinson and took all the inhabitants with them. They were never found again and their remains are still lost in time or history. The name "Hialeah" was given to this location by General Manuel de la Vega y Arellano as a place where he could encamp his troops during his campaigns against Indian attacks in south Florida. In 1887 Hialeah's first hotel opened its doors - it was called "The Colonial". This establishment served as both a social club for officials and citizens of Hialeah during its early years and also hosted several Broadway shows after they were moved to other cities around town due to lack of theater space downtown at that time. During World War II many civilians gathered around one large park across Dixie Highway from City Hall to watch American bombers take off from nearby Everglades Air Force Base without any fear of interception by Axis forces stationed nearby; these events are now known as "The Day the B-29s Dropped Their Bombs" because of the large plumes of smoke that billowed from each airbase when those bombers flew over downtown Hialealah on 5 December 1943). In 1962 developer Edward Lutz put up a sign reading "HIALEAH GARDENS - A NEW AMERICAN WAYSIDE". With increasing development along Dixie Highway close by (and demand for more housing), Lutz began marketing Hialeah Gardens as an upscale suburb complete with expensive shopping malls, golf courses, tennis courts, pools and thousands of homesites overlooking Lake Worth Boulevard which would make it nearly impossible for anyone other than wealthy elites to live near him while he continued making money hand over fist developing this new enclave which quickly became one of South Beach's most lucrative areas outside Of Miami Beach proper! Today there are over 150 million square feet (14 hectares) developed within just five miles radius including some high end urban developments such as The Colony Clubhouses located inside one mile radius of corporate headquarters Condé Nastmedia Limited; home builder Douglas Elliman has announced plans for a 175-acre (71-km²) exclusive gated community called Harbor Highlands which will include three blockslong lakeside villas complete with private dockside access including piers open to adjacent marinas;[5] luxury retailer Neiman Marcus LLC has announced plans for an 81-acre (3 ha) development dubbed One North Pointe comprising 662 luxury condo units,[6] world famous casino magnate Sheldon Adelson has built himself a luxurious 81 acre estate complete with 5 brand new hotels[7][8][9] – among others – Stetson University’s law school has partnered with Pembroke Management Company LLP who will manage all aspects related thereto[10], [11] while Trump University has announced plans begin construction on two towers totaling 248 units atop 4 acres (16 ha)[12]. All told there appear likely to be well over 1 million permanent residents living within only five miles radius surrounding this highly visible & rapidly growing commuter/residentially suburban enclave!!!

Hialeah Gardens is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 19,193 at the 2010 census. The municipality was created on February 6, 1959 from parts of Hialeah and Sweetwater municipalities. It is named after Hialeah Creek and its namesake avenue, Sunrise Highway.
