At this time Hallandale was one of several small towns along the south coast serving as winter quarters for early 20th century citrus growers who traveled up through Key West on their way to Tampa Bay or Jacksonville during warmer weather. In 1915, Peder's son Ole Jacobsen took over his father's business operations at Hallandale beach proper while Peder continued to live at116th Ave S., Manatee Ctr., until his death in 1926 due to heart disease brought on by overexertion as a result of running his business full time year round additional than normal workloads associated with being pioneers among new entrepreneurs." Ole Jacobsen remains significant not only because he ran things during his father's final years but also because he made many improvements to Hallsdale beach - including adding tennis courts (1922), installing beach umbrellas (1924), building much needed stormwater drainage systems (1928), paving streets (1929) & modifying visitor facilities such as hotels/cabins (. . .)"[1] OleJacobsen also helped found another soon-to-be Fla.-based business dynasty: The Raburn family who continue making their mark even more prominently here than ever before thanks largely to their philanthropy included giving back $10 million dollars since 1978 through Raburn Foundation Incorporated headquartered here since 1990[2].
