There is no evidence that hammers were ever used as firearms hammers. However, there are references to such a tool in the early 19th century. In 1795, Captain John Ledward published "Hammers and Pins," an old handbook of maritime navigation. In the book, Captain Ledward mentions a hammer called the “Gun Hammer” which he says was used for pounding nails into boards. He also mentioned that this hammer was made from a piece of iron about six inches long and one inch wide with a round head at one end and a pointy end at the other. The Gun Hammer was not actually invented until after 1825 when George Stephenson created the first implement known as a gun hammer- some say it even predates Stephenson's invention! The first recorded use of a gun hammer as a weapon happened on October 5th, 1825 when two British soldiers were using it to fire cannons at Fort Moultrie in South Carolina. Unfortunately for them, they didn't realize that their blows were causing real damage!

Hallandale Beach, Florida is a town located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 21,714 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Miami metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Hallandale Beach were members of the Spanish expedition led by Hernando de Soto in 1539. They built a small settlement on an island in Suwannee River and named it after Manuel de la Carrera, viceroy of Mexico City. In 1795, Captain James Cook sailed past Hallandale Beach on his way from Cuba to Australia and named it for one of his ships: HMS "Hamburger" had been wrecked off here in 1794 with goods worth £4,000 (about $92,000 at current prices). In 1818, General Antonio López y Gasset burned down the town's only building - a warehouse - during a failed attempt to capture fugitive slaves escaping from Haiti. A new town was established two miles south on what is now State Road 706. The original name for this new community was Hialeah but because there was already a thriving city called Hialeah (an allusion to its status as county seat), they changed it back to Hallandale Beach in honor of their newly minted civic center which opened in 1825. In 1870s and 1880s many wealthy white Atlantans moved into Hallandale Beach seeking its pristine beaches and Mediterranean atmosphere; some remain residents today including tycoon Sheldon Adelson who bought 1% interest in the then-largest newspaper company in America when it merged with Dow Jones & Company Inc., making him one of its largest shareholders.) By 1910 almost all black people had left or been deported from South Florida for lack of opportunity or integration into white society; about 2/3rds of the population still lived within limits established by Indian Removal Act following Seminole War – land that became Everglades National Park today. During World War II, hallandale beach was used as a military base by both Allied and Axis forces. The town was also known for its munitions production during this time period. Since Hallandale Beach has experienced multiple waves of population growth over the years, there has been significant development taking place within its borders including new hotels and restaurants, as well as new residential areas built along State Road A1A which runs through town limits
