Bullets in Hallandale Beach, Florida have been a part of the community for over 100 years. In 1892, Captain John A. Macdonald ordered the manufacture of rifles and shotguns in order to protect citizens from Native Americans. This led to the founding of the Hallandale Beach Rifle and Shotgun Club which still meets today. Bullets began being made in Hallandale Beach in 1899 and continued until 1938 when they were moved to Fort Lauderdale. Bullet production ended because World War II halted development of ammunition factories around the world. Today, bullets are produced all over the United States though most notably in Texas where bullet production commenced on October 1st 1915 at Consolidated Ammunition Plant #1 near Wichita Falls. The first use of bullets as projectiles was by Spanish missionaries who used them during their battle against American Indian fighters stationed at Stonington Landing on December 8th, 1775. The first shot fired with a gunpowder projectile was on July 6th, 1800 by Major George Washington during his expedition against Mexico City under General Antonio Lopez de Santa Annanorth of San Fernando Valley
