AOC continued production of quality optical products until 1971 when it merged with Browning Incorporated to form Browning–AOC Incorporated (BAI). At BAI, prototype development continued until 1973 that led to production of both EOS lenses and new designs based on those concepts including the current model offerings from Nikon USA and GEO Optics Inc., among others. Hallandale Beach is a town in Volusia County, Florida, United States. The population was 15,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1907 by Danish immigrants and has been consistently growing since its establishment. The first residents of Hallandale Beach were Norwegian farmers who arrived in 1876 and began to purchase land from the Indian tribe that lived there before selling it to other settlers. In 1907, the first permanent American settlers arrived, including 38-year-old Jacob Strømborg and his wife Sophie (née Sivertsson), both natives of Denmark. They bought 1/4 mile (0.16 km) of beachfront property for $500 and named their new home "Hallandale". The Strømborgs became one of the most influential families in Hallandale Beach and are considered founding fathers of the community. The early years of Hallandale Beach were filled with excitement as people awaited word from America that they would receive a shipload of refugees fleeing World War I. Upon disembarking in Jacksonville on July 29, 1914 – just over two years after America entered into World War I – many Hallandale Beachers descended on Market Street to witness what would soon be known as "the greatest day in Jacksonville history". More than 5,000 peoplepacked the market square near State House Square where they watched an airplane fly over head taking off from Douglas Field outside Jacksonville for New York City carrying more than 2,000 refugees; this event marked Jacksonville's entrance into World War I. Water main construction began shortly thereafter on what would become known as Main Street; this project was completed within three months and renamed Halls Avenue upon completion by Mayor Halsey Waddell in 1917 because it provided direct access from Rte 190 (then called US 1) which then connected downtown with numerous small towns along its length including Ormond Beach to the east and Stonington to the west across Ussery Canal - all located within easy reach of Hallandale beacheside homesite! In 1922, when Daytona Peninsula Racetrack opened its doors for business operations following local donations by members of several prominent businesses throughout town including J & L Grocery Company (now defunct), Mills Brothers Brewing Company (& later Pabst Blue Ribbon fame) had already begun developing adjacent present day Central Park - now Cross Keys Boulevard - complete with grandstands atop a hill overlooking Daytona Harbor! today’s park boundaries extending well beyond “Central Park” proper although much remains unchanged or largely spared during recent decades despite rapid development nearby!
