In 1949, they built their own shooting range on land adjacent to their grocery store which still exists today as one of the most popular ranges in town. During World War II, many businesses closed down due to rationing but Shooting Target Holder continued operations until 1945 when it was sold to Mr. Tabor who ran it until 1961 when it was bought by Mrs. Janssen who operated it until 1978 when it was passed along to her son John Janssen who currently owns and operates it today with assistance from his wife Tammy (Jenssen). The history of this Range is reflective of many others across Northeastern Florida during this time period; businesses expanded due to war efforts while smaller businesses failed because they could not compete with larger competitors eager to exploit wartime production shortages caused by America’s participation in World War II!
