The Greenacres Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc. was chartered in 1922. The club's first meeting took place on May 10th, 1922 at the home of Mrs. John Fenton. At that time there were only a few rifles and pistols in the area, and no shooting activities had yet taken place outside of matches sanctioned by local NRA clubs. fascinated by reports of silent movie theaters holding shoot-outs between moviegoers using various firearms to try to listen in on conversations, the members of GARPC decided it would be a good idea to hold their own gun competition using only Hearing Protection Devices (HPDs). They named their event "The First National Gun Show" and introduced HPDs as a new category for firearms show exhibitors. In 1924, GARPC hosted its second national gun show with over 100 exhibitors from 25 countries exhibitor list including many big name manufacturers such as Colt, Winchester Repeating Arms Company and Remington Arms Company among others. This show was also attended by US President Franklin D Roosevelt who visited the club during his visit to Miami Beach Florida that summer. In 1928, GARPC held its third national gun show which was again attended by US President Franklin D Roosevelt who this time purchased two handguns from Remington Arms Company for use at his inauguration ceremonies later that year in Washington D C . In 1930 GARPC staged its fourth national gun show which once again saw participation from many well known manufacturers with over 200 exhibitors from around the world attend this event including some of America’s most famous military leaders like General Douglas MacArthur and Admiral Chester Nimitz both attendees wearing Hearing Protection Devices (HPDs). In 1933 GARPC staged its fifth national gun show which once again saw participation from many well known manufacturers with over 300 exhibitors from around the world attend this event including some of America’s most famous military leaders like General James Thurston Cleburne and Admiral James Forrestal both attendees wearing Hearing Protection Devices (HPDs). Unfortunately due to World War II American industry was diverted into producing munitions not ammunition so there wasn't as much opportunity for firearm manufacturers to exhibit their products at these events however HPD technology continued to evolve and improve throughout this period making it an increasingly popular choice for firearm owners looking for better hearing protection

Greenacres, Florida is a small town located in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent European settlers in Greenacres were Frenchmen and their families who arrived around 1795. They named their new community "Aurillac" after the Aurignacian city in France. The first African American to live in Greenacres was a slave named James Hall who worked on a plantation near present day Ybor City during the 1840s. In 1868, when Miami Beach became an incorporated municipality, Greenacres was included within that municipality as well. Greenacres has been continuously inhabited since its founding and date back to 1835 when Captain John Ahern and his family settled down on what is now known as lot 7 on which they built a house called "Ahern's Cabin."
