Greenacres, Florida is a small town in Citrus County, Florida. The population was 1,690 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of the Tampa Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area and is southwest of Orlando. Greenacres began as an agricultural community near what is now Hillsborough Avenue and Old US-1. In 1892, Josephine Mosely founded a school in Greenacres to provide education for freed slaves. From 1912 to 1922, Greenacres was home to the first African American post office in Florida. In 1954, when Stonington became Citrus County's seat, Greenacres became its community center. The original greenhouses that are still standing were built in 1915 by Mrs. Florence Wynne and her husband Ellis Wynne as part of their greenhouse business at 724 E White Street. Mrs. Wynne served as president of Tampa's chapter of PTA from 1925 until her death in 1955; she was also vice president of Citrus County from 1923 to 1945 and county treasurer from 1935 until her death in 1957 In 1951, Drusilla Jordon purchased land along Town Lake Drive which would become home to many years later to what would be known as Jupiter Center shopping mall (now called Marshall Mall). Greenacres Elementary School opened there on November 17th 1951 with twenty students and twelve teachers who lived within walking distance of the school while attending morning classes then lunch and afternoon classes before going home for dinner before coming back into school for Homecoming Lower School playtime! After only one year there were rumors that it might close because space had been taken up by Jupiter Center but instead it continued open until 1978 when it closed due to lack of enrollment behind the new University Village development! Today much like when it opened over sixty years ago Greenacre’s focus has always been providing quality educational opportunities for citizens including developing Arboriculture courses so residents can be self-sufficient with regards food production local & sustainable produce

Greenacres was a small town located in Monroe County, Florida, United States. It was founded by Captain John Green and his wife Anna Maria in 1837. The community quickly grew and soon had a population of over 100 people. The town developed around the "Greenacres Post Office" which served as the center of operations for the community. The post office was destroyed in 1905 but was replaced by a new building that currently serves as the town hall. The post office also served as the local courthouse from 1837 until 1905. In 1865, Greenacres became part of Kissimmee County and continued to serve as its local courthouse until 1945. Additionally, Greenacres hosted an annual fair which attracted many visitors from surrounding towns. By 1907, Greenacres had become an important transportation hub with several miles of track running through it. In 1935, Greenacres experienced its first major flood incident when water reached high levels across most of the community. However, due to concerted efforts by residents and their organizations, the flood did not cause any significant damage or loss of life. In 1951, Greenacres became part of Lakeland after being removed from Monroe County effective January 1st that year due to growing population size there and concerns about potential flooding issues in neighboring communities such as Ocala and Sanford . Since 1951, both Lakeland and Greeneacres have grown increasingly suburban with few remainingResidents living near their original homes - though there is still occasional evidence of traditional rural lifestyle including small lots on main streets
