Spanish Conquistador Ruy López de Villalobos visited the area in 1613-1614 while exploration of Florida was ongoing. In 1794 Charles Towne donated land for a courthouse and school district which became known as "Towne's Domain". In 1824 the town became part of Escambia County when it was created from parts of Santa Rosa, Escambia and Bradford counties. In 1892, a group of businessmen formed the First National Bank with headquarters in Pensacola and began marketing agricultural products such as eggs, cheese, lumber and cotton to other inland communities including Mobile and Jacksonville until they acquired an interest in Gulf Coast Railroad that connected Pensacola with Biloxi on the Mississippi River near Mobile Bay By World War I most residents had fled to Mexico or Canada because of economic hardships brought about by war - only 8 people lived there before 1920 Present day GreenacresWelcome To Our Wonderful Community
