The town of Greenacres, Florida is home to a rich history dating back to the early 1800s. The area was originally inhabited by the Seminole Indian tribe and was known as "Muckaloogee" after their traditional hunting ground. The first European settlers arrived in the area in 1814, when Captain James Cook discovered what is now Greenacres on his second cruise around South America. The town site was purchased from the Seminoles by John Taylor in 1827. In 1829, Jacksonville was founded by General David Walker and Greenacres became part of Jacksonville. The first school was built in Greenacres in 1830. In 1875, Jacksonville annexed Greenacres and renamed it Jacksonville Heights. In 1933, the United States Congress passed a bill annexing all of Duval County into Florida andJacksonville Heights became part of Everglades National Park. As part of this annexation, Greenacres lost its right to vote within Jacksonville Heights but still retains its name today.
Greenacres is a census-designated place (CDP) in Putnam County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,613 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now includes Greenacres was originally called "Pass Creek" and "Wendy's Prairie". A post office was established there on November 1, 1836 by James Waddell. In 1860, it became known as "Greenacres". The community was developed as a small agricultural town with homes for farmers and their families located along the canal that ran through the community. By 1920, only a few hundred residents lived in Greenacres proper while most of the rural areas around it had been destroyed by World War I and II bombings. In 1949, developer Milton Saucier bought some of the land surrounding Greenacres from local farmer George Prentice and began to build what would become known as Saucier Park which today encompasses much of downtown Jacksonville. Construction proceeded slowly due to lack of funding but finally started in 1951 when President Harry Truman dedicated what would eventually be renamed Easley Park following his inauguration into office. In 1957, Saucier Parks merged with other urban park systems in Jacksonville creating an entity larger than either individual park system and still exists today as one of Jaxs largest public parks with over 4 million visitors each year! As more people moved into Greenacres during the late 1960s and 1970s they began creating new neighborhoods including Sunrise Gardens/Downtown/Southside/East side/Alachua Hills/Willowbrook Estates etc… These developments continue to this day providing diversity within a small town setting while preserving much of its character dating back to its founding days! Today’s Greene Acres offers easy access to all that downtown Jacksonville has to offer while remaining true to its rural roots!

Greenacres is a small town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pompano Beach–Boca Raton metropolitan area. The town was founded by refugees from the Haitian Revolution in 1820. Greenacres became a community because of its location on the banks of Lake Worth Creek and its close proximity to Intracoastal Waterway. The creek helped make Greenacres one of Florida's most developed communities. In 1921, Governor Manuel López de Santa Fe designated Greenacres as a city and it remained that way until 1972 when it became part of Boca Raton. Greenacres experienced economic growth during the late 19th century due to its location on water resources and its development as an agricultural center for citrus production. The early 20th century saw continuing growth thanks to contributions from local farmers and businesses such as Jardin Rubber Company and Tampa Shipbuilding Company. During World War II, many factories were built in nearby Pompano Beach to produce munitions; however, few aspects of this history remain today in Greenacres because so much has changed since then: The city annexed neighboring townships in 1959; Boca Raton eliminated streetcar service in 1965; after years of efforts by residents, Girdwood Hills Elementary School opened within walking distance of all homes in 1977; and Interstate 95 was constructed through the town shortly thereafter making it easier for people to commute into Broward County jobs south or west of Palm Beach Boulevard (which ran through downtown). Today, Greenacres is home to several restaurants, two banks (Jardin Bank & Trust and Citizens Savings Bank), three churches (First Baptist Church/Church Of Christ Scientist/St Andrews Presbyterian Church), two Safeway storesanchored along State Road A1A - one open daily 9am-9pm (the only store open at night until 2006) and about 50 small businesses including 24-hour beauty salonCrazy Hair Day Spa/, more than 25 art galleries including 5 exhibiting craft breweries/, five golf courses (/home course being St Andrews Country Club made available for use by public members only/), four schools (/grades PreK-8th grade with physical education programs K-12th grade operated out side school hours/) plus a fullservice medical office complex consisting of two ambulatory surgery centers one freestanding emergency room with capabilities for trauma care along with a variety of outpatient services including family health clinic., greenacre library which opened Decembers 1996 inside Ybor City Community Center also offers programming for parents evening classes designed for nurseries 3rd thru 6th grades., all told there are more than 350 business entities operating within 1 mile radius
Greenacres was founded in 1892 by J.C. Willoughby, a developer and citrus grower. The Greenacres citrus industry thrived for many years, but production began to decline in the early 21st century as new technology became available that increased yields and eliminated some of the need for hand labor. However, the industry still exists to this day and is one of Florida's most significant agricultural industries.
