Greenacres, Florida is a town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 37,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1907 by J. H. Green and his brother John as an agricultural community on the Palmetto Bayou near where it currently stands. The community grew rapidly due to its location and natural resources: citrus fruit production became one of the mainstay industries; and Indian fishing trips yielded valuable catch for local restaurants that fed Greenacres residents for years into the 21st century. In 1961, Greenacres became a city after being annexed from Doral by Miami-Dade county commissioners under then Mayor Art Fleming. In 1990, when Doral merged withMiami Beach to form the Greater Miami metropolitan area, Greenacres reverted back to its original status as a village within Miami-Dade County government but remains part of the larger municipality's tax rolls and zoning regulations. In 2000, following annexation of neighbouring Pembroke Pines by Miami Beach authorities as well as growth in employment opportunities in both municipalities (due in large part to new resorts built around Biscayne Bay), Greenacres again reverted back to its original status as a single village withinMiami-Dade County government but remains subject to all Village laws and ordinances including those governing planning and building - which have seen some significant updates since 2000 including changes that allow for mixed use development on formerly agricultural land parcels adjacent to commercial areas (the first such developments in South Florida). The current mayor is Carlos Gimenez who has served since December 2017

Greenacres is a small town in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2000 census. It is part of the St. Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1911 by farmers who were coming back from their trip to Cuba and the Philippines during World War I. They named their new community after a grove of trees on their property that they saw while searching for land to farm in Florida. Greenacres was originally just a rural agricultural village with no industry or commerce until the early 1920s when it became known as a center for citrus production due to its location nearchosen for this purpose because of its fertile soil and lack of other sources of water supply. As citrus production increased, so too did Greenacres' residents' needs for transportation, which led to Greenacres becoming known as "the most connected community in Monroe County." One reason why Greenacres developed into such an important community was its location on State Road 421 (now US-41) which connected several key points in Monroe County including Pensacola and Jacksonville. This highway also made it easy for people to get around and make connections with others in the area. Additionally, many businesses and services located in Greenacre proved useful to residents such as grocery stores, churches, doctor's offices, schools and more.
Greenacres was a small village on the east side ofbroward county, Florida, United States. The post office at Greenacres was established in 1892, and continued to serve until it closed in 1959. The community is now a ghost town.
