Bipedalism has been present in Gainesville, Florida for over 350 years. The first bipedal humans in the area were members of the Seminole Tribe who lived there before European colonists arrived. So, Washington appointed Jameskk Walton as military governor of Florida in 1768. Walton was a man of action and quickly moved to develop plantations and build roads throughout the area. By 1772, he had developed a relationships with several native tribes, including the Creek Nation. For this reason, he was able to gain approval from Great Britain for an attack on Mobile Bay which would open up new trade opportunities for England. However, when Walton's forces attacked Mobile Bay instead, they were met with resistance from local Native Americans who fought back fiercely. As a result of these events, Spain became interested in acquiring control of Florida after hearing about America's struggle against Britain and decided to intervene instead. After months of negotiations between Spain and France (who wanted control over Pensacola), a treaty was signed allowing France to possess Mobile Bay while Spain retained possession of Pensacola; this event marks the beginning of Spanish colonization in America. With this acquisition came some new technology as well: en route from Havana via Saint Augustine they encountered landrace slaves who helped them learn how to cultivate sugar cane (this process is still done today). After several years of Spanish rule in Florida, American settlers arrived; however, many were eager for independence from England so they did not pay much attention to Spanish rule or its regulations regarding slavery. This period is known as "The Partisan Period" because many people fought for independence but few achieved success until after General Andrew Jackson took office as president in 1825-26%. During this time period there were also large-scale battles fought between Ulysses S Grant's Union army and Confederate forces both north and south; however due mostly to Union artillery fire most casualties resulted in Confederate victory overall rather than loss of life among Ulysses S Grant's troops himself which made him one of history’s most celebrated generals (note: during this time period there also occurred major changes within the United States itself such as Reconstruction). Finally following World War II Gainesville experienced rapid growth due largely to numerous defense contracts being awarded by nearby Miami Beach during that time frame- mainly due to naval activity taking place off its shores
