BB guns have been around for quite some time, and Gainesville is home to one of the oldest BB gun stores in the country. The store was started by two friends, Bill and Bob Burgess, in 1947. They originally sold only BB guns, but over time they began to sell other firearms as well. In 1955, they opened their own store in neighboring Jacksonville. Today, there are more than 20 BB gun stores across the United States and Canada. Many of these stores are located in small towns and rural areas where people have always been interested in owning a firearm. In Gainesville, we think that it’s important to keep our history alive by honoring the pioneers who started this industry here at home. Some of these changes include the addition of magazines (which allowed users to reload the weapon), more powerful cartridges, and sights (which made it easier for users to aim the weapon). A number of different companies have produced bb guns over the years, including Browning Arms Company, Colt Firearms Corporation, Savage Arms Manufacturing Company, Sig Sauer AG., and Winchester Repeating Arms Company.

Gainesville is a city in Florida, located on the Gainesville-Rawlins County line. The population was 31,836 at the 2010 census. It is known for its University of Florida campus and its annual "Strawberry Festival". The first European to visit what is now Gainesville was Capt. John Smith in 1763. By 1819, when it became part of the United States, Gainesville had a population of 538 people. The town's name comes from General Andrew Jones' House which stands today on SW 2nd Street in downtown Gainesville as part of the City Hall Annex Historic District. In 1835, businessman James Fenton built a steamboat landing on Bayou St. Johns east of town and called it Fentonville after himself and his brother-in-law Drshall Fenton who owned land along the bayou. A post office was established at Gainesville in 1837, and remained open until 1951. From 1840 to 1850, sugarcane was being grown nearby by Edwin Cockerell and others; however, this cropfailed due to low water levels caused by hurricanes Andrew and Cubaita (1839). In 1855–56 two schools were opened in Gainesville: one for white children under 12 years old and one for black children over 12 years old; both schools closed within a few years because there were not enough students to justify their costs (= $2 per student per year). In 1861 an Agricultural Experiment Station was founded at Gainesville (later renamed USDA), testing new methods of agriculture that would later be adopted by farmers all over America. At this time there were only about eighty residents in gainesville proper; most inhabitants lived nearbayou or along SR 7 north of town center where they could purchase fresh produce from market buyers direct rather than travelling miles away to get it from local stores or reaching the store early morning before closing late afternoon/early evening so that customers could buy their fruits ahead of schedule!
