Gun targets have been a part of Fort Pierce, Florida for over 100 years. The first target was erected in 1854 to commemorate the town’s incorporation as a township. The target was a 20-pounder cannonball that could be fired from any point on the property. One of the first guns in Fort Pierce were two 12-pounders that were mounted on pedestals outside of the old fort. The cannons served as gun batteries until 1899 when they were replaced by rifles and then shotguns. In 1903, the first rifle range opened in Fort Pierce and it would remain operational until 1971 when it was closed due to budgetary constraints. Rifle ranges continued to operate sporadically through most of the 2000s before being closed permanently in 2002. One of the few surviving rifle ranges is located within walking distance of downtown Ft. Pierce and offers multiple firing lanes for all types of firearms including handguns and rifles alike. Gun targets are also available at this range which has provided entertainment for visitors since its inception in 1915.

The only requirement is that you have some basic printing capabilities. To make your own gun target, you will need: -A piece of wood at least 2 feet by 1 foot -One inch hole in the center of the wood -Paint or other similar paint for guns -Tape measure (optional) -Scissors (optional) 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Cut wooden target into desired shape and size; see illustrations below for details. Arrange target on ground so that each side of the hole is 1 inch from opposite edge of wood Target should not touch any other object in room. Arrange safety tape around top edge of target if desired precautions are not followed Trim off excess material from top and bottom edges if desired precautions are not followed(see illustration above)2. Paint or cover entire front surface of target with paint(optionally using a band aid or adhesive).3. Thread Safety Tape through one end Of Safety Cue Wire Harness And through Top Of Wood Target 4a pull tight until tight knot forms(see illustration above).5b use fingers to push evenly across front surfaceof target leaving a ½-inch starting point 6 When finger has reached back half way across front surfaceof target, hold finger still and pull up wire harness until tight knot forms7 Hold wires together while pulling up wire harness; release when HARNESS has formed an “M” shape
In 1892, Fort Pierce was the capital of Florida. It was also the first place in the United States to have a rifle range. In 1916, it became a major naval base and in 1959, it became an air force base.
Fort Pierce, Florida is a city in the state of Florida and the county seat of St. Lucie County. The population was 137,898 at the 2010 census. Fort Pierce is bordered by the Miami River to the south, Indian Pass Road to the east, and Biscayne Bay to the north. The city was founded in 1867 on an island in Biscayne Bay by Colonel James Eagan. It was named for Major General Simon Bolivar Fort Pierce, who commanded American forces during Seminole Wars and drove them from Cuba in 1835. Fort Pierce became a major port on Biscayne Bay after it was designated as such by US President James K Polk in 1855. Its subsequent growth led to its incorporation as a city on August 29, 1906. The first white settler arrived in Fort Pierce on July 10, 1867: Captured Seminole warrior Michael O'Leary. After months of exploration and planning by Colonel James Eagan and his assistants, military engineer John Skelton built what would become known as "Eagan's Island" for him on an outlying portion of Sarasota Harbor which then still lay within Cuban territory controlled by Spain at that time

Fort Pierce was founded in 1819 as a small trading post on the Indian River. The town grew rapidly during the 19th century, thanks to its location on the mouth of the St. Johns River and its access to shipping and trade. By 1868, Fort Pierce had become an important commercial center on Florida's Gulf Coast. The town experienced major growth during World War II, when it became one of the largest military installations in Southwest Florida. The fort continued to be used as a military base until 1971, when it was transferred to the Department of Defense for use as an airbase. In 2001, Fort Pierce was merged into the city of Miami Beach.
Fort Pierce was founded in 1821 by the Spanish. The area became Florida after the American Revolution. The fort was built on an old Indian trading post and is now a museum.
