The first Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood rifle and shotgun firefight took place on October 16, 1903 when gunmen opened fire on a group of law enforcement officers gathered for a holiday party at the Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel. The shooting killed one officer and injured six others before being stopped by Officers Hennessey and Ahern. On November 3, 1923, a shootout occurred in which five shooters fired on police officers outside the Flamingo Hotel in Hollywood. Three officers were killed, two were injured, and one was arrested. On December 12, 1934 an armed robbery attempt outside the Gold Room nightclub in Hollywood led to a gunbattle between police officers and gunmen that ended with three policemen dead and seven wounded. On January 5, 1936 an armed robbery at the Majestic Theater resulted in gunfire that wounded three people before it was eventually stopped by security guards. That same year an attempted burglary at the Mayfair Theatre resulted in gunfire that damaged four cars before it was finally stopped by police. In 1938 two gunmen fired shots into a crowd of spectators attending a show at the Broward County Coliseum injuring four people before they were apprehended by police. In 1941 two gunmen shot onto Coopers Avenue near Ft Lauderdale beach during rush hour causing several injuries before they were apprehended by police. In 1945 three gunmen opened fire on law enforcement officers during a traffic stop outside of Sunrise casino resort killing one officer and wounding another before they were subdued by authorities. In 1949 an ambush involving six gunman happened during lunchtime outside of Miami's swanky Regency hotel resulting in threedeadand sixwoundedpoliceofficersbeforethe ambush was eventually suppressedbypolice usingprofanityandaflashlightbasedongunfireinsteadofatruckmountedcameraswhichwerethen usedto surveil suspectsthroughoutthe cityduring their mealtime). In 1952 two gunmenopenedfireontotheUnion StadiuminBoca Ratonkillingoneofficerandinjuredanotherbeforetheyweredisarmedbypolice; this event is also considered as historical due to its notoriety which helped spur some changes within law enforcement including utilizing body cameras today

In 1821, Fort Worth was established as an outpost on Biscayne Bay to support operations againstigator Stonington — now part of Miami — during the Seminole Wars. At that time it included much of what is now Broward County and western Davie County. The Ulysses S Grant–era government district composed most of present day Broward County except for parts of Palm Beach andMiami Gardens; however, because it was not within district boundaries at all times (it changed hands numerous times), its residents were not included either within or without District Government for various reasons such as political power dynamics or lack thereof; county officials therefore only experienced limited contact with those living outside their jurisdiction due to this peculiarity until 1935 when they were reorganized into two districts which eventually became counties:broward and miami-Dade ( paralleling county lines). This unusual situation continued until 1959 when all property within District Government boundaries – save for Pinellas Park – transferred to counties under then-Governor Lawton Chiles effective November 15 following his term's expiration date As early as 1820 there was discussion about creating a military post near Ft Lauderdale/Boca Raton because Stonington had been harassing American citizens shipping out to fight Mexico since 1800s In 1821 we saw an act from congress authorising US Provisional Force consisting mostly american militia led by Admiral David Dixon Porter headqurderer went into action against Stonington starting on October 28th1821American forces ended up retreating back home with few casualties
Fort Lauderdale was founded in 1795 by Spanish colonists as Fort Santiago on the west coast of what is now Florida. The original name was changed to Fort Lauderdale in 1827 after a British warship, HMS Dolphin, while anchored off the coast attacked and destroyed all but one of the Fort's cannons. In 1828, Captain John A. Sledge, who had replaced Captain James Cook as commander of HMS Dolphin, decided to rename the fort for himself because he felt that his general name would be more likely to be remembered by posterity than any other local leader. He named it "Sligeldown" (later renamed "Fort Lauderdale"). The first European settlers in this area were Frenchmen who arrived in 1795 under Admiral Nicolas-Jacques Conte and built a small trading post on Biscayne Bay. They soon abandoned this venture because of the harsh conditions and returned to Louisbourg in Nova Scotia. The first English settlers came during the American Revolution when Captain Hugh Lawson established a landing party at Jaxx Cay on South Miami Beach on July 5, 1794. This group numbered five men: Lawson, Robert Thomson (a slave), John Heard (of Georgia), George Washington Harris (of Maryland) and Nicholas Payne (a Welshman). They made their way upriver until they reached an Indian village where they traded goods for food and horses before returning downriver to Fort Lauderdale that same day. This event is generally considered the start of Florida's settlements by Europeans. In 1800 Spain ceded Florida to Great Britain as part of their Treaty of Paris following its victory over France at La Hogue on October 14, 1793. As part of this treaty Spain also agreed not to sell or lease any lands east of St Augustine which included much of modern Broward County including Palm Beach County today. However Spain did continue to manage land north from St Augustine including what is now Ft Lauderdale with rightsTo build military posts and provide protection against Native Americans known locally as Seminoles because these areas were thought to be occupied by them rather than by Spain or England which meant that they could own land without having it taxed or leased back again
