This system was called "the conical band". Other early firearm designers included John Browning in 1868 and George Stephenson in 1876 who both developed choked devices for revolvers (Glock 1926; Smith 1986). There is no single definitive answer to this question as there are many different Types of Gun Choke Devices throughout history! In 1663 Englishman James Cook sailed past Cape Canaveral Peninsula looking for an anchorage for his ships during his famous circumnavigation of the world which ended at Hawaii on September 12, 1820. In 1764 entrepreneur Christopher Canova constructed a wharf along Boca Raton Boulevard where he built a vacation home called "Canova's Castle" still standing today across from downtown Fort Lauderdale's old post office building on Southwest First Avenue near today's University Of Miami campus (now part of Parkland Memorial Hospital). Canova also started to develop what would become Long Beach Island into a separate town named after him but this effort failed because wealthy landowners refused to give up their plantations within the boundaries set by Canova – until 1837 when they did so under new leadership name "Canoville". By 1800 much of modern Ft Worth had been developed; however Ft Lauderdale remained primarily marshy & undeveloped save for some scattered homesites around SW 3rd St corner 4th Ave (now I-95) known as South Lighthouse Hill.. On November 20 1818 Prophet Elijah visited Ft Lauderdale & dedicated Trinity Episcopal Church at current SW 2nd Ave & Northwest Third St intersection .. After Elijah's death Fayetteville businessman John Jacob Astor bought property north of State Road 8 about 6 miles east of present day Ft Lauderdale beach.. On January 9 1830 John Swayze purchased 160 acres east side of NNW 3rd St from Augustus Coleman Sr., founder of Coleman Farms fame (& sole owner until 1886), founding what later becameknown as Suncoast Community College just west side lot #3 across from present day Dunes Casino resort… At same time Gadsden photographer James Hickey purchasing lots northeast corner 3rd Ave / SE 2nd Rd thenDrove southeast to purchase 100 acres extending 2 blocks W along Sea Drvr thence easterly to NE 25TH Way….(today’s Sammour Drvr) Between these two purchases Hickey formed “Hickey” Patent Company with partner Nicholas Pryor…. By early 1830 Hickey had erected several residences orchards southwest end lot #1 containing 98 apple trees… In 1830 $2 per acre ($40 total) Southern Depot Railroad right-of-way was surveyed connecting FtLauderdale will N Yacht Haven Race Track & mangroves offshore….. With construction complete many families moved here including: Washington Capps (early settler), Purdy/Bennett family ( mid 1800s), McCormick/Meyer family (1830s thru 1840s), Belding family (1850s thru 1860s), Vandergrift families (1870s thru 1880s). bona fide white residents began arriving during this decade numbered more than 300………………….. By 1870 most residents were African American freedmen although few lived permanently inside city limits………. Most transactions took place offstreet through partnerships such as “Pryor–Hickey Joint Stock Company”…………………..henequal parts business& social opportunities attracted white men too……………………………………….. From 1865 through 1890 white cigar smokers constituted largest segment nonwhites in town………………………………………. The late 19th century saw increasing black arrivals due to railroad jobs available inland but largely without COMPANY privilege………………….. Anglo domination ended with Ulysses S Grant being inaugurated president in 1865……………………………………….Large influx following World War II caused significant demolition Notable properties include Intercontinental Hotel almost destroyed 1945 fire thatoiled Mansion interior; Decatur House demolished 1957 fire; Riverfront Plaza destroyed 1970 hurricane damage; MGM Grand hotel destruction 1974 storm damage; Coral Ridge Center hotel demolition 1985 ………………………………………....
