In 1884, Florida City was founded by John A. Dye and his brother, James Dye. This small town in the panhandle of Florida had a population of only fifty-six people when it was platted in 1885. The town grew rapidly due to its strategic location on the Gulf of Mexico and its access to navigable waterways. By 1907, Florida City had a population of over two thousand people and became an important shipping point on the Tampa Bay River. During World War I, Florida City was active as a military base for the US Military Forces in Tampa Bay Area. In 1915, General William Troup Headquarters moved from Hillsborough County to Florida City and continued operations at Fort Myers until 1918 when it relocated back to Tampa Bay Area. During World War II, Florida City again served as a military base with various units stationed here including the 5th Infantry Battalion which operated at Camp Pickett during 1944-1945; and the 1st Squadron (Airmobile) Cavalry Regiment which patrolled nears YborCity during 1945-1946. The post-war years were very difficult forFlorida Cit y Although most businesses failed due to hard times; some managed to stay open such as The Gator Pit restaurant which reopened after being closed for many years In 1948, Driscoll opened her first bar called The Gator Pit which quickly became popular among locals and tourists alike In 1951-1952, Trinity Lutheran Church built a new sanctuary which served as their parish hall until 1957 when they sold it off to First Methodist Church who used it as their church until 1971 When they merged with another church this led to the current name:Florida Cit y United Methodist Church

After World War II ended, many people began using binocularS for everyday activities such as bird watching and fishing. In 1951, two individuals named Edwin Land and Raymond Berry created what is now known as theLand-Berrymmetersystem® (LBS), which became one of the most widely used sighting devices ever invented. The LBS allows users to pinpoint targets with greater accuracy than ever before possible while wearing standard eyeglasses or contact lenses

Florida City is a city in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pensacola–Ft. Walton–Boca Raton metropolitan area. The name "Florida City" originated from the Choctaw word "Galveston". The first white person to live in what is now Florida City was Captain John Stroud who landed there on July 24, 1824 with his ship ''Pioneer''. In 1885, Major General C. Fenton Payne set up a military post here after winning a war against Mexico near Pensacola Bay. General Payne named the post Fort Payne and it became an important supply depot for the Union army during the American Civil War. After the end of the Civil War, Fort Payne was abandoned and its supplies ran low. A group of businessmen decided to start anew in what would become Florida City by buying land east of town and building new homes. They called their community "Canton" after nearby Canton, Ohio where they had been living since 1884. The original town site consisted of only about 100 acres (40 hectares). By 1911, local farmers had harvested more than 2 million pounds (1 million kilograms) of cotton! When World War I began, Florida City quickly became one of America's busiest port cities as munitions were unloaded into Mobile Bay and shipped out to Europe via Panama Canal ships chartered by President Woodrow Wilson's wartime administration. In 1918-1920 many factories were built in downtown Jacksonville using workers brought over from other ports such as New Orleans or Boston; these factories produced everything from radios to automobiles and submarines but also created numerous hazardous jobs like lead smelting and steel production which still produce harmful emissions today known as “Toxic wastes” coming off many modern factory rooftops throughout Jacksonville
Florida City was founded in 1819 by Captain John St. Johns as a trading post on the mouth of the Kissimmee River. The first permanent settler in Florida City was George Washington Beal, who arrived in 1828. By 1830, it had become known as the most important commercial and naval center on the Atlantic coast. In 1835, Florida City became part of Jacksonville, and in 1849 it became a city under the jurisdiction of Jacksonville. It experienced rapid growth after becoming an incorporated municipality, with a population of over 100,000 by 1900. During World War II, Florida City played an important role as one of several military bases within Duval County and served as headquarters for both Naval Air Station Jacksonville and Naval Base Miami-Dade. After the war ended, Florida City lost some of its importance but continues to be a popular tourist destination today.
