Fernandina Beach is a town in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The name Fernandina comes from the Seminole word "Fani-na" meaning "bayou." The first permanent settler in what is now Fernandina Beach was John Irwin who arrived on February 4, 1822 with his family and looking for land to farm. He named his new land after his sister-in-law: Fannie Beeching. In 1834, Isaac Mills settled in Fernandina Beach and developed a small commercial center around what is now known as Mills Park. By 1840, Fernandina had a post office and two churches - First Baptist and Methodist. However, by 1865 all of the businesses had closed due to lack of competition or disease brought over by the American Civil War(). In 1892 Vinton Hogg donated 640 acres (2 km²) east of present day Fernandina beach to become an open space park that would include schools, a movie theater and other uses if desired by future residents or developers. On December 6th 1925 local man Earle Waddell laid out 7 blocks called Aiken Square on high ground just north of your current store frontage on Old Indian Rd., opposite State Road 913 (the longitude/longitude line where you are today). At this time there were no streets in Fernandina Beach so gridlock resulted when people tried to move goods using ox carts! This helped solidify downtown as the main business district for the town (and still does today). One can walk from one end of Aiken Square all the way around without coming back near where you started - it's like walking into history! Today there are several restaurants located within easy reach of each other including Bally's Irish Pub which has been open since 1922., Moochie's Cafe which opened in 1951 adjacent to arthritis clinic Southshore Medics & Orthopedics - another early landmark; Staghorn Grill across from BP station; Mrs Fisher's Bakery next door; Cactus Garden across from Safeway; Turtle Cove Resort Golf Club across from Costco -- each with their own unique atmosphere and flavor experiences!

Fernandina Beach is a major seaport on the south coast of Miami and it has been an important trade center for many years. The beach became popular due to its clear waters, white sand beaches, and good fishing. The town began as a small community developed around the original lighthousekeeper's house. In 1892, Fernandina Beach was incorporated as a village under the name of "Beachwood." By 1904, Fernandina had outgrown its resources and was annexing other communities until it reached its present size of 17 square miles. The first settlers in Fernandina Beach were Portuguese sailors who sailed up from Key West in search of new land and riches in what is now Miami-Dade County during the late 18th century. They founded two villages – Beacheside (later renamed Fernandina) in 1892 and Waterville (later renamed Fort Lauderdale) in 1895 – both near where they landed on their ships when they arrived in America on HMS "Normanby". Their settlements served as locations for salt production and commerce until after World War II when development largely shifted away from the oceanfront areas to inland suburbs that are today part of downtown Miami. In 1907, Lieutenant Colonel Edward Fenton organized an expedition to survey potential landing sites for troops invading Haiti during World War I which led to the establishment of several small towns along Willa Henson Road including Fernandina Beach which sprang up around his discoveries soon after he disembarked his ship off Sanibel Island on July 20, 1914 with General John J Pershing aboard.(1) This event helped lay the foundation for what would become one of America's most vibrant post-war coastal communities with people from all over coming ashore to experience this new country while supplies continued to arrive by sea throughout 1915.(2) After World War I ended there was much speculation among American citizens about what should be done with all these military installations once hostilities had ceased but no definitive decisions were made until 1919 when Major General Waddell announced that 1 million acres would be set aside within Everglades National Park((3)) so developers could begin construction on large warehouses and other industrial complexes that would eventually surround downtown Miami!(4) This announcement caused great controversy because many saw it as another giveaway by US Military forces to those who had supported Germany during World War I- something that still resonates today given Palm Beach County's close links with both sides! It wasn't long before development began at nearby Jupiter Marine Manufacturing Company which opened its doors just across Coral Way from where Fort Lauderdale–Miami Airport now stands.(5) The influence of these companies can be seen throughout Fernandina Beach; beginning withCaptain James Graziano’s store front down Main Street where Captain Graziano’s Son & Co., later known as Graziano’s Newsstand & Liquor Store became one of America’s earliest successful commercial enterprises outside New York City.(6) Continued growth followed as more businesses came online such as JB Hi-Fi Radio Corporation which moved into their current location adjacent to Boca Raton High School in 1963.(7)(8)(9)(10)(11)[12] And finally there has been steady residential development over recent decades culminating with plans currently underway for a massive mixed use redevelopment project called “FernandINA BEACH 2030: A Legacy For All Generations”(13)!
