Gun targets have been a part of American history for over a century. Eustis, Florida is home to the oldest such target in the United States, dating back to 1892. The target was located on the grounds of Eustis Country Club. The first shooting match between Americans and Europeans took place at Eustis' old post office in 1875. That year, American rifleman John Nance Cross killed an animal with a shot from his Springfield Rifle at a range near present-day US 21st Street and Third Avenue. In 1876, Captain James Fenton opened the first blacksmith shop in Mobile County and began working on firearms for white farmers. He furnished rifles and shotguns to white men as well as black soldiers in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. At first targets were used for hunting animals that could be hunted down quickly or those that had been captured by humans or animals already dead—such as deer, hog, rabbit, etc.—but soon there were also made specifically for shooting sports purposes (fishing spears being one example). By 1903, target shooters had erected their own ranges across America using publicly owned land. One such range was located southeast of Tampa on Hillsborough Boulevard; it continued to be used until 1942 when it was destroyed by firebombing during World War II. A new range open in 1949 became world-renowned when it hosted the inaugural Umpires Championship which sanctioned matches between amateurs from around the world. However, shortly after opening its doors two members of staff were killed while practicing at the range by rounds fired from an unknown gun; this event is still considered piracy because no insurance cover was given to spectators who assembled adjacent to where gunfire could be heard emanating from inside the building . In 1955 South Africa hosted what is believed to have been America's first international target competition; however no records exist verifying this claim other than some reports which suggest that some marksmen from South Africa attracted attention with their exceptionally high scorers rates amongst European contestants . In 1957 Congress passed The Gun Control Act which required all pistols manufactured before 1934 must be registered with government authorities within 24 hours of delivery regardless of who owned them .Since then many changes and amendments have occurred regarding gun control legislation including but not limitedSections 521 et seq., Publius v – United States (1976) —which legalized possession temporally under certain circumstances while sales remained subject to registration requirements ; Heller v District Court (2008) —a case involving background checks on handgun purchasers ; McDonald v Chicago police officers (2015) —establishing right of citizens carry handguns without permit outside city limits ); Sinema v Jeff Sessions (2018) —challenging Trump’s decision making about gun laws

Eustis, Florida is a small town located in the central part of Hillsborough County, Florida. The population was 7,813 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hillsborough County. Eustis is known for its annual Eustis Festival which has been held every year since 1903. The festival features arts and crafts, music, food, and much more. The town was founded by Captain John Aiken in 1846 as an agricultural community on what is now State Road 9. Aiken named his community after his brother-in-law, Colonel James Gadsden Eustis of Georgia. In 1853, Captain Aiken donated some land to build a courthouse and jail in Eustis. By 1861, when it became a military post under Confederate command during the American Civil War, Eustis had become one of the most important southern towns in Florida due to its strategic location along US 1 and its railroads that connected Tampa with Jacksonville and Atlanta. In 1865 Enterprise became the first incorporated municipality in Hillsborough County when it was created from parts of both Eustis and Clearwater Counties following a referendum vote by residents of those towns over whether to remain unincorporated or become municipalities subject to county government regulations (i.e., property taxes). At that time there were only six municipalities in Hillsborough County: Enterprise; Dunedin; Greeneville; Hialeah; Lakeland; and Plantation Heights (later renamed Miramar). By 1900 there were twenty-one municipalities in Hillsborough County including Enterprise; Dunedin; Greeneville; Hialeah; Lakeland; Miramar Beach (); Sunrise (); Winter Garden (); Willoughby Beach (); Bridgeport (); Belleview ()); Davie ()); Largo (); Port Charlotte (). EUSTIS FESTIVAL The Annual EUSTIS Festival began on October 3rd 1903 with performances by local bandshells followed by hayrides around Crystal River national park before ending with pavilion shows at Raymond Parkground . This event continues today with artisans exhibiting their creations from all over the state while thousands of people gather for music , shopping ,and just plain fun!

It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Eustis was founded in 1892 by J.B. Eustis and became an incorporated town in 1907. In 1969, it merged with Clearwater to form Eustis-Clearwater Municipal District which continues to be its municipal government today The history of Eustis goes back to 1892 when J.B. Eustis organized a group of men and women who wanted to start a new post office on what is now Sunrise Boulevard near present day US Highway 1A (Ft Myers Parkway). The name "EUSTIS" was chosen because it was one letter long and sounded like "east". From that point forward, the town's growth proceeded steadily as people established businesses and homes hereabouts - many still standing today! In 1907, after years of discussion between various elected officials, Clearwater Municipality was created from parts of four other towns - including EUSTIS - within Pasco County: Dunedin, Lake Worth Beach, Satellite Beach & Gulfport (the last two being amalgamations due to their proximity to Tampa). As part as Clearwater Municipality had jurisdiction over all public schools within its boundaries while also having power to regulate commerce within its limits; this gave Clearwater Borough control over only private schools within its boundaries (save for three institutions managed by Clearwater Township): A&M University School in Dunedin; Stonington Presbyterian School in Gulfport; and Palm Coast High School in Satellite Beach which opened their doors on November 4th 1912! This arrangement lasted until 1957 when both Clearwater Borough and Pasco County were consolidated into just one entity – Pinellas County – under then-Governor Earl Warren’s executive order! At that time school districts were reorganized statewide with each municipality receiving a share based on population size rather than territory! This left clear delineation between boroughs & counties so local business owners/citizens could continue doing business without fear that their concerns would be diluted or banned altogether! Unfortunately for those businesses who did not want consolidation (and who continued operating out of Window Rock or even before that), events soon took place which led directly to Pinellas County becoming embroiled in some hotly contested legal battles during the late 1960s & 1970s… these ultimately resulted in such closures & property forfeiture issues as well as much economic decline throughout central Pinellas County during this time period! It wasn't until 1978 when newly elected Mayor Jack Dempsey abolished all forms of municipal government within City Limits thereby creating what we now know as a citywide government model!! And from then on things began slow but surely gaining momentum as citizens started electing leaders responsible for their community – something our current mayor wholeheartedly supports!!! In recent years there has been significant redevelopment taking place with mixed use projects popping up around every corner including several high end luxury hotels!!! Keep an eye out for upcoming developments such as One Sarasota Place project slated for 2021 just off US 41A near Live Oak Blvd!!!!
