Penney opened the first store in what is now Eustis when he sold goods at what is now Mastrandrea Circle on US 1A near State Road A1A. In 1897, Julius Rosenwald donated $10,000 to build a city hall and school district (later renamed part of Palm Beach County) in honor of his son Julius Rosenwald Jr., who had died two years earlier while serving as President of Sears Roebuck & Co., one of America's largest department stores chain operations at that time In 1907, Drury Lumber Company bought out Waddell’s interest in the company and changed its name to Drury Lumber Company Limited which still exists today with over 350 employees located throughout North America including plants outside of Tampa Bayou City limits Drury Lumber Company exported lumber to Latin American countries such as Brazil and Venezuela before World War II until hostilities disrupted shipping activity along the southern United States coastlines In 1945 Drury merged with Boeing Corporation creating one corporate entity known as Boeing Overseas Holdings Incorporated headquartered originally on Hotel Rowlett across SW 8th Street from downtown Dallas TX then moving into supplanting old building across NW corner of SpringHill Plaza shopping center renamed their new headquarters “Boeing Headquarters Park” tapering down towards I-4 exit ramp until just past TPC = Tinkerring restaurant ***** showroom******************* After 50 plus years there are many businesses left active but some long gone like: *****, *****, *****, *****

Eustis is a town in Leon County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tallahassee–Hernando–Sarasota Metropolitan Statistical Area. Eustis is known for its citrus orchards and golf courses, as well as its French Quarter atmosphere. The area that now comprises Eustis was first settled by Spanish colonists in the late 18th century. A post office called Eustis was established in 1837, and remained in operation until 1906. In 1865, a group of English-speaking settlers arrived and named their new community after the then-rural town of Evesham, England. The name stuck; however, it wasn't until 1957 that the town proper was formally incorporated. In 1924, local developers started to develop what would become today's downtown core around what is now City Hall Square; this included founding of The Gables restaurant and nightclub on Amelia Island adjacent to Gulf Coast Highway (US 92). In 1951 – just two years after incorporation – the city constructed its first hospital: Medical School Hospital #1 on Ashley Boulevard between US 192 and US 301/Apopka Road near milepost 12½ of Interstate 5 (now State Road 98). By 1970, when Eustis had annexed portions of neighboring Hendry County (northwest corner), it had outgrown Medical School Hospital #1 and erected First Baptist Church & Park Plaza across from Ashley Boulevard on land donated by businessman James Sperling II. In 1973 – shortly before Hurricane Floyd struck – construction began on Veterans Memorial Coliseum which would serve as both an arena for professional basketball games and also be used for high school events such as football drills during summer months. The Coliseum opened in 1977; it served as home to both the Miami Heat (from 1981 until 2003) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (from 1995 until 2006). As part of efforts to improve pedestrian access to downtown square through widening streetscapes along Gulf Coast Highway near First Baptist Church & Park Plaza - including installation of ramps leading up to Ashley Boulevard from I-5 - work began on Center Street adjacent to First Baptist Church & Park Plaza during 1984 paralleling those efforts with construction of Veterans Memorial Bridge over Pershing River which connected downtown square with Navy Pier across Lake Erie.. This $325 million project improved transportation links within downtown square while also adding 1 million sq ft (~400 dwellings) of office space above Naval Air Station Key West/EUSTIS marks one significant milestone in UF's history! Phase 2B began design/build operations in fall 2009 with revised plans call for increased housing density within central business district [CBD] cores along State Road 98 retail corridor approach arterial approaches direct access roads into CBDs .... [the original plan called for] ..... 608 units per acre vehicular parking facilities ..... STORAGE FOR 495modular homes ...... Parkside Rendezvous Shopping mall will anchor redevelopment ......'
