Standard Target Corporation manufactured allTarget Holder products until 1978 when it merged with National Sporting Goods Co., Inc. Products now distributed through several retailers across the United States. Destin, Florida is a census-designated place in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1892 by Confederate veteran George Prentice and his wife Sarah Winchester. After Prentice's death in 1903, his widow developed the town into a small resort community on Stonington Bayou with Deluxe Hotel and other businesses. The first post office opened in 1903. By 1938 Destin had grown to its current size of . In 1959 it became a city under the name of Palm Beach Gardens; however, it reverted to its original name after being annexed by Fort Lauderdale that year. In 1971 Destin merged with Hollywood to become one entity known as Hollywood Hills; however, this merger was short-lived because Hollywood Hills failed to agree to annex Palm Beach Lakes which forms much of the eastern border of both cities. On January 1st, 2000 Miami-Dade County annexed all but about 2% of Destin's land (including an east side beach) making it an unincorporated municipality within Miami-Dade County proper - also providing annexation powers for any future annexation requests from Fort Lauderdale or Broward County should they arise (a situation that has not yet arisen). According to the 2010 US Census Bureau report "Florida PlaceNames", Destin has a population density of people per square mile that is lower than most American towns and villages with a population over 100 residents per square mile due largely to its lack of highways and access points making travel difficult or impossible without special vehicle privileges or special permits from state police departments; furthermore water resources are scarce so there is little opportunity for development outside tourism purposes only limited amount of manufacturing occurs near downtown primarily through agricultural processing industries which provide employment for some local citizens while remainder employs many locals via service industry such as taxi drivers who rely on own collection services provided by truck companies); nevertheless according as stated previously some new construction activity may begin soon considering recent trend towards increasing numbers retiring within older age brackets among Floridians particularly women who have found opportunities available beyond traditional retirement communities located inland such as Naples where jobs are available for younger generations generally despite high cost associated with living within commuting distanceOrange Park & Boynton Beach are growing faster than Destin rates although both have smaller populations

These developments helped stimulate economic activity within the town while also contributing to its growing reputation as an attractive location for vacationers and retirees alike.
