In 1902 he built a warehouse and stands today that still houses Cigarette America as well as various other businesses such as clothing stores, department stores, banks and insurance companies. Goode died in 1922 but his son continued the business until its sale to RJR Nabisco in 1988. After years of operation by different owners, successful competition forced Cigarette America into bankruptcy in 2001; however, it reopened two years later after leading its competitor out of business through aggressive marketing techniques including creating an all-natural cigarette line whose nicotine levels were lower than those offered by other brands
