Deerfield Beach, Florida is a small town in Broward County, Florida. The population was 5,713 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern coast of Biscayne Bay, just east of Miami and west of Fort Lauderdale. The main street in Deerfield Beach is named "Biscayne Boulevard." The first knife made in Deerfield Beach was a crude adaption of an American Bowie knife. A man by the name of John Aiken had the first store in town which sold knives from 1892 to 1898. In 1896, George Eilerson opened another store with a variety of knives including Damascene and Damascus blades. By 1912 there were six stores in operation with over 100 employees. In 1916, Wm Sayers opened his own store which became known as The Knife ShopMurray Bros., Incorporated (TSM). TSM continued to be operational until 1954 when it merged with Haggerty's Knife Company to form Iberia Cutlery Corporation (ICC). ICC produced some very fine knives during this time including models such as the Specialized Folding Knife and the modernChopper series daggers that are still popular today. In 1954 ICC merged with MasterKnife Corporation to create Deere & Company Cutlery Holdings Incorporated (D&CHH). D&CHH continued production until 1987 when it merged with JH Stevens Cutlery Co., Incorporated (JSH) to form Hagee’s Knives, LLC (HKL). At that point, it had grown to over 200,000 people and boasted many major cultural attractions such as Ocean Park and Scripps Pier; both located within walking distance of each other).
