Debary is a small town in Duval County, Florida, United States. It is located on the banks of the St. Johns River and has a population of about 3,000 people. The town was founded by Welsh settlers in 1881. In 1889, Debary became part of Jacksonville Township. In 1911, it became a city and was renamed after then-President James Buchanan (1809-1865). The first guns to be used in Battle of Gettysburg were barrels from six-gun rifled rifles that had been brought over from England by Major General George Custer during the American Civil War.

Debary is a small town in Leon County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,442 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Walton Beach–Legion City Micropolitan Statistical Area. Debary was founded by Captain John Purdy and his family in 1827 as a post office named for him. The first store in town was built in 1852 by Wm. Dillard and became the nucleus of what is now the downtown area. In 1907, Debary became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and council meeting at its citadel to which each household had access. In 1933, during the Great Depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered his "Economic Recovery Address" from the steps of Debary's citadel after being welcomed by Mayor Tom Wagner and Councilman Harry Bertolette. Mayor Wagner later said that Roosevelt's speech helped restart local businesses and stimulate economic growth in Debary throughout 1933-1935; this included plans to build new municipal buildings on Main Street between Fourth Street and Eighth Street (later renamed Main Street Plaza). During World War II, much of Debary came under Japanese occupation; however, most residents managed to remain friendly towards their occupiers until 1945 when Japan withdrew from World War II following the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. On July 10th 1946Debary's city council voted unanimously to annex neighboring Fort Walton Beach into city limits effective that date - making it one of only two towns in Florida to have extraterritorial jurisdiction over citizens residing within its borders while still part of its county government

Debary is a town in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,693 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The town was founded on November 8, 1886 by Jens Hansen and his wife Emma as a farming community on the east side of Clearwater River. The name was chosen to represent the many bays and inlets that surrounded it: "Enderby" from English meaning "the great bay," and "Barre" from French meaning "headquarters." On December 3, 1886, Debary became an incorporated municipality under the name of Jacksonville Township. On February 22, 1907, it changed its charter to become an independent city with full police powers. In 1911 it annexed separate communities of Port St Johns and Belle Glade. Although Jacksonville had been growing rapidly for several years before Debary's incorporation, there were still few settlers living within its borders when it became an independent city; this was due in part to a lack of transportation options and infrastructure available at that time for such a large town. This situation began to change after the construction of Interstate 95 (I-95) during the late 1990s; since then, more people have arrived in Debary looking for work or pleasure reasons than ever before. In October 2002 Mayor Lenny Vinson announced plans to reduce traffic congestion on I-95 by building two new bridges over Clearwater River - one across Honeymoon Bridge Road adjacent to downtown and another across New Landing Boulevard just outside of town limits – which would create major economic benefits for both cities combined. The $68 million project was completed in 2006 and created many jobs throughout both cities while reducing traffic congestion on I-95 by up to 50%.
