Debary is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. It is located on the banks of the Miami River, about 20 miles (32 km) east of Tampa and 10 miles (16 km) west of Jacksonville. The population was 6,552 at the 2010 census. The first residents in Debary were French colonists who arrived there in 1794. The town was named for Lieutenant General John Forbes, commander of British forces against Spanish domination during the American Revolutionary War. George Washington chose to stay in Pensacola and established his headquarters there rather than move to Debary because he considered it too far from military action and strategic assets. He also desired to maintain cordial relations with Spanish leaders in order to forestall any possible hostilities between America and Spain over that war's outcome. In 1813, Spanish traders brought back firewood from Havana as part of their trade with America; this fuel enabled early settlers to build crude mills which created a need for flour and other goods needed for subsistence farming. By 1819, when US President James K Polk took office after winning the US presidential election that year, he had realized that Pensacola's importance as an Atlantic seaport made it necessary to establish a more permanent government presence in what was then still Spanish territory controlled by Spain. Polk ordered construction began on what would become Fort Brooke – one of two natural fortifications built along the river by US troops during the Mexican-American War – and dispatched Major General James Wilkinson with 3rd Infantry Regiment under Colonel Austin Peale to purchase landincluding 4 square miles (10 km2), or about 70% of present-day Debary property – for $5 per acre ($25 per hectare). In November 1821 England's Napoleonic Wars ally France had entered into an alliance with Russia against Austria over control of Mexico; when Napoleon invaded southern France three months later he found himself embattled against four armies numbering some 200,000 men commanded by Field Marshal Count Friedrich Wilhelm von Mackensen: one army crossed into Spain through Lisbon under cover of night while Mackensen marched eastward across France; another army invaded Portugal via Bayonne before reaching Madrid; a third army crossed into Spain near Barcelona before marching southeast along Route 5 south past Valencia de Aragón via Logroño through Andalusia until they reached Cadiz; finally an eastern arm advanced upriver toward Pamplona before being driven back towards Madrid by Von Mackensen's main force plus cavalry reinforcements arriving from Catalonia just prior to its retreat. The French defeated Mackensen at Talavera on 21 October 1822 so Napoleon retreated across Iberian Peninsula into Vienne where he collapsed due to illness three weeks later without having accomplished anything significant beyond occupying southwestern France instead of completing his objectives within Continental Europe. Spanish officials evacuated all but 1/3rds of their citizens living inside Mexico City except those living near San Miguel de Allende where they continued Toquimaya’s management pending plans for their relocation following Santa Anna’s succession claim—an event which never happened because Onate resigned his post upon learning about Santa Anna’s true identity on 9 August 1840 US soldiers garrisoned Fort Brooke until 14 May 1824 when orders arrived not only terminating garrison duty but also forbidding Americans from trading with Mexican nationals or entering Mexican territorial waters On 11 January 1850Orders were received from President Pierce ordering all private individuals within 1st Judicial Circuit including debarred Seminole Indians “to take measures immediately for effectuating confiscation …of all arms & ammunition belonging thereto” Thereafter sheriff David Pogue acquired exclusive right J&P Arms Co.,manufacturer at Boca Raton Fla store dated 12 Dec 497 sited now at 344 W Flagler St.–1st largest gun company west Of Chicago Ammo depot–for $1 million When both Confederate States Of America [CSA] & Union States Of America [USA] formed during American Civil War #1 1861 thru 1865 each side possessed approximately 45 million rounds fired thru out country ammo production totaled over 800 MILLION rounds produced ammo factories producing millions projectiles caseless many years ago today these Ammo Factories are now VIDEO TOURNAMENT AIMED AT RECOVERING ALL THAT WAS FOUND THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY

The name Debary comes from the Key West trading post of Fort Donelson and Jacksonville, which were two points of connection between Spanish America and Africa during the early 1800s. The town began as a farming community with four farms clustered around what is now Main Street. By 1892, however, only one farm remained and all other land had been sold to developers for subdivision or development into housing tracts. In 1935, when Miami-Dade County was created by state law, Debary became its first incorporated municipality. Since then, Debary has undergone several waves of growth: First it expanded eastward into unincorporated territory; then it developed numerous commercial areas including an airport and shopping center; finally it annexed neighboring townships – most notably Olive Branch to the south – creating what is now a large urban center that includes more than 12 thousand residents within its boundaries. Even today there are pockets of rural character remaining throughout the core city limits while also incorporating many features typical of modern American suburbia such as bike lanes and public parks dotting its streetscape. Debary, Florida is a small town in Hillsborough County, Florida. It was founded by Seminole Indians in 1837. The town name comes from the Debarkation point on the St. Johns River where Indian traders and settlers disembarked to trade goods with the Spanish and English. In 1875, when Hillsborough County was created, Debary became one of its initial counties. The main street in town is named for John A.Ross (founder of Rossmar), who served as mayor from 1915-1920 and 1924-1928. Debary has a rich history dating back to 1837 when Native Americans settled hereabouts after moving westward from their original land near Tampa Bay. On July 3, 1837, Ulysses S Grant arrived at thedebarkation point on the St. Johns River opposite present day Debary; his army had invaded Florida during the Mexican–American War and been searching for new territory to occupy before returning home two months later to report that he’d discovered “a vast tract of country lying between Tampa Bay and this river [St.] Augustine], within our own limits” (Hillsborough County Herald). This area would become known as Debary because of this early presence of white people—the first residents were among those who landed at Debarkation Point on July 3rd: “John Ballard had come down with his family some time previous also, landing at this spot about 6 o’clock yesterday evening” (Herald). The first settler in what is now Debary was James Goodnight who purchased land east of what is now US 27 in 1839 (Cleveland Gazetteer). Goodnight laid out a road connecting his property with future Debary hotels which are now part of US 27: “James Goodnight started building a cabin near present day US 27 & US 281 about 1840″ (Florida History website). By 1850, most alluvial soils along both sides of the St. Johns River had been mined out so development began along Marathon Boulevard today – originally called Ft Lauderdale Boulevard – although pre-existing homes lay scattered around mostly residential areas surrounding US 27/280 until incorporated into modern day downtown Debary by ordinance passed by referendum on November 2nd 1916 following World War I veteran dedication ceremonies at Park Hall Schoolhouse northeast corner Race Road & Constitution Avenue across from Miami Beach United States Marine Corps base second story…As more businesses opened up Downtown businesses grew quickly unprofitably so did prices until prohibition caused an abrupt decline followed by an uncontrolled expansion resulting in several fires throughout much of 1926 which resulted eventually in tear down[ing] most business fronts including Banks Home Hardware store 5th Ave N map dated 1896 buildings have since been replaced but remaining stone remains visible inside old bank building facing Race Rd NW corner old post office
