The De Land Pistol and Rifle Club was founded in 1868 by a group of farmers in De Land, Florida. The club acquired its first pistol in 1875. It operated a range on the village square from 1880 to 1901. In 1902, the club purchased a rifles and shotguns business from C.B. Smith & Sons Ltd., which continues to operate today as De Land Sporting Goods. In 1906, the club opened its own building, located at 5014 NW 27th Avenue in DeLand, Florida. The building served as both the clubhouse and Range Operations Facility until it was destroyed by fire in 1978. A new clubhouse was built onsite and opened in 1984. In 1949, theDeLand Pistol & Rifle Club merged with the Fort Myers Gun Club to form the present-day DeLand Pistol & Rifle Club organization

In De Land, Florida, the town was founded in 1853. The first post office in De Land was established in 1854. In 1875, the town became a county seat and was named for General John C. DeLand.

De Land is a town in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The first settlers in De Land were white men from Georgia who arrived in 1800 and built a log cabin on the present site of the town. A post office was established there in 1824, and by 1830 it had become a small agricultural community with one store and about fifty residents. In 1833, many pioneers from Georgia immigrated to what is now Monroe County and founded De Land as their new home. By 1840, most of the original settlers had died or moved away; only five families remained behind to continue farming and lumbering operations. In 1844 John Young began another logging enterprise in what is now DeLand; this time he purchased land east of modern-day Jacksonville to build mills that would produce wood for shipment downriver to Jacksonville. The Townspeople were so pleased with Young's investment that they donated all of their lumber back to him free when he sold his mills years later! At its peak during World War II, DeLand employed over 1,000 people directly or indirectly through its businesses; its economy truly came alive during those wartime years! When America entered World War II (1941-1945), jobs disappeared as factories closed because of rationing which affected everyone regardless of job status or income levels – people could not just buy food like they did before because there wasn't enough available money! So other than manufacturing goods for national defense (which continued even after the war ended), DeLAND essentially functioned as a rural ghost town until 1973 when several veterans started an organization called "Vets For Vigor" which lobbied state legislators for passage of Heroes Affairs legislation creating special tax breaks for military veteran entrepreneurs - these types of initiatives helped jumpstart the local economy once again!

De Land was a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States located about 8 miles northeast of Tampa. The population was 1,000 at the time of its incorporation on July 3, 1907. It is now part of Plant City. The first white person to set foot in De Land was George White who arrived with his family from Virginia on October 10, 1836. De Land's earliest recorded settler was Samuel Woodruff who arrived in 1837. The area that would become DeLand was first inhabited by the Tequesta people. Captain John Akins and his men were the first white men to explore this area on March 17, 1786 when they landed at what is now known as Pinellas County Landing on Sarasota Bay. In 1805 a group of Spanishmen discovered land east of what is now Tampa and named it Santa Rosa de Tenerife after their governor there, Rufino José de Jesús Martinez y Costilla y Pacheco (1763-1824). This initial land purchase also included present day Clearwater Peninsula and southwestern Hillsborough County. The lands west of Tampa then passed through various hands until it came into the possession of Colonel James Wilkinson who sold it to Major Alonso Baez in 1828 for $1 million dollars which made him the richest man in America at that time. In addition to its small town feel, DeLand had an important role in American history due to its strategic location midway between St Petersburg and Jacksonville making it a key center for trade throughout both times periods – during the Revolutionary War because British forces depended on supplies arriving through DeLand; during World War II because it served as a forward air controller for fighter planes based at nearby Fort Myers; and more recently as home to some important military installations including Creech Air Force Base and Naval Strike Command Headquarters which are still active today. The town experienced some major changes during its early years however – principal among them being annexation by Tampa after the county formed following Seminole Wars in 1835 which led to large numbers of settlers moving into central Florida from Georgia Territory bypassing DeLand altogether seeking new land grants or opportunities for development instead of living within their original boundaries
