In the early 1800s, De Land was a small town in Florida. It was home to a gunsmith and rifle shop that operated out of the local post office. The gunsmiths were responsible for manufacturing all sorts of firearms, including pistols and rifles. They also sold these products to dealers throughout the area. One of the proprietors of the gunsmith shop was Johann Gottfried Glockner. Glockner is credited with being one of the first people to develop a revolving stock for firearms. He did this by replacing the traditional wooden stocks with metal ones that could be turned on their axis. This allowed guns to be fired multiple times without having to reload them. Glockner's invention soon became popular among shooters throughout America. In 1811, he patented his invention which led to the development of today's modern revolver - a firearm that fires rounds by revolving an attached barrel around an axis
