Prince and his son William Prince. They began manufacturing rifles and handguns using innovative design features that allowed them to be more accurate than other manufacturers’ products. Their products were well-received and helped make Daytona Beach one of the most important locations for gun enthusiasts around the world. In 1934, The Gunnery Company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester Firearms Corporation. During this time, they produced many iconic firearms such as the Model 1895 rifle and handgun. In 1984, Winchester Firearms Corporation was sold off to Browning Arms Company and remains today an internationally known manufacturer of firearms products.

Daytona Beach, Florida has a rich history of gun sights. The town was founded in 1868 by General James E. Wright and named for him. The first gun sight in Daytona Beach was a 10-pounder cannon that operated from an outhouse on the property of the Wright family. In 1875, two years after Daytona Beach was founded, Mayor J.M. Dowling erected a ten-pounder cannon at the corner of Third and State Streets to commemorate the city’s first anniversary as a municipality. The cannon remained in use until 1903 when it was replaced by a 12-pounder model acquired from Jacksonville, Florida. A new gun sight built in 1901 by Horseshoe Gun Sight Company served as the cornerstone for what is now known as “Dowling Monument” located at Fourth Street and Old Town Avenue in downtown Daytona Beach. In 1906, Mayor Augustus Bogue dedicated the present day Municipal Building which is one of only three buildings still standing on Third Street between Constitution Boulevard and Federal Road that were constructed prior to 1907 when prohibition began to take hold throughout much of America. On October 4th, 1907, Senator Wm Meeks (R) introduced into law Amendment No 2 to the United States Constitution which eventually provided for concealed carry permit requirements within each state within Union Jack country; this amendment later became known as Second Amendment to the US Constitution
Daytona Beach, Florida is a city located on the Daytona Beach Peninsula in the state of Florida. The population was estimate to be over 165,000 in 2018. It is an enclave of the Greater Orlando metropolitan area and forms part of the Orlando- Daytona Beach Combined Statistical Area. The name "Daytona" comes from the Seminole word "dawn," meaning "morning." The first Europeans to visit what is now Daytona Beach were Indians, who called it "Tohopeka" or "the place where dawn comes." In 1824, A. J. Fenton explored and named it after Sir John Evans's estate at Dunster in Somerset County, England which he had bought from Lord Dunster for £1,500. In 1825–26 George Washington Parke sent explorer James Cook to explore south Florida; Cook's journal entry for December 8, 1795 calls Daytona Bay "the bay that bears his name." On February 4, 1830, Captains William Davenport and Tobias Lear discovered a small island just off shore known as Hiawassee Island while sailing their brigantine USS Olympia under command of Captain David Worcester during a survey of southern Florida; they named this island after Captains Davenport and Lear. In 1845 Fort Brooke was built on Hiawassee Island by United States Marines Corps members under General Lafayette Hill during the American Civil War as part of General Order No. 10; Fort Brooke served as a Confederate stronghold until its fall in 1865. In 1847 Governor Andrew Jackson established commissioners to sellments land around Key West; these commissioners developed what is now downtown Daytona Beach about 6 miles (10 km) east of present day downtown Daytona Beach on Biscayne Boulevard between Congress Avenue and US 1A (now I-4). Miami businessman John Cudahy purchased 3 square miles (8 km2) adjacent to Hollywood Boulevard on July 10, 1850 from Indian Creek Township trustees Ebenezer Higbee and Samuel Stroud for $2 per acre ($/km2). He renamed it Overtown – but changed it to Downtown Jacksonville when he moved his business center there in 1861 because Jacksonville was then known as Eastern Jacksonville! By 1860 Downtown Jacksonville contained 300 stores and 400 residences with 1 post office;[1] but due to increasing competition from Miami proper,[2] Jacksonville faded into obscurity until International Speedway Corporation created Mobile Park Racetrack there in 1923 which brought new life back to Downtown Jacksonville.–DowntownJacksonville today has more than 12 thousand residents including several thousand students enrolled at local universities.–According to 2020 census data over 60% working class people living near military installations have incomes below poverty line making them vulnerable groups………………………………………..At present there are no major businesses other than International Speedway Corporation left powerful enough

On February 15th 1907, King George V granted cityhood to Daytona Beach and it became a municipality on April 2nd 1907 On December 5th 1927 City Manager John Fenton announced that Interstate 95 would be built through town-right-of-way with no exit available until after Memorial Day Weekend so that people could enjoy the beaches without fear of traffic jams. This caused uproar among residents who saw their business opportunities destroyed while developers got to build what they wanted without any inconvenience or input from those who would benefit from their presence. The city manager responded by announcing plans to open up all exits during rush hours so that people could still enjoy the beaches even if there were long lines at the airports

The population growth has led to increased development around the area including new shopping malls, restaurants and hotels; however some neighborhoods have also seen loss of character due to high levels of development without consideration for historic preservation. In recent years there has been a movement effort to redevelop portions of downtown and areas near the ocean towards more open spaces that would preserve historically significant buildings while allowing for continued commercial development
