Goudreau, decided to start a local business making barrels for shotguns and rifle stocks. Another story says that a man named Harry Ladd started manufacturing cannons at his home on Orange Avenue in Daytona Beach in 1875. The next year, Ladd moved his company tosecured waterfront property on Flagler Street near today’s Marine Drive. In 1898, another white businessman named Arthur Ashe boughtFlagler Street from Ladd and renamed it Business Boulevard in honor of his new acquisition. Gun barrel production continued at Ashe’s businesses until 1906 when he sold them all to brothers George and Clarence Barron who ran the now defunct Ellerbe Manufacturing Company until 1939. In 1909, American Automobile Corporation (later Chrysler) purchasedEllerbe Manufacturing Company and began producing firearms there under the name “Chrysler Firearms Corporation” until 1934 when they transferred their operations to Piqua, Ohio where they remain today as part of International Machine Works Incorporated.- also known as IMI or just Chrysler- through most recent incarnations including current ownership by Cerberus Capital Management LLC

In 1925, work began on building what would become known as "The World's Fair". The fair attracted more than 2 million visitors over eight months and $12 million was generated for local businesses. Over time, Daytona Beach became known as one of America's most popular tourist destinations thanks to its beaches, theme parks, shopping malls, casinos and other attractions
