Naval base activity increased during World War II including Naval Air Station Manned Maneuvering Unit 3 operating out of NAS Miramar which used nearby commercial airfields for training pilots etc; however there were no military personnel living or working in or around #DaniaBeach at that time………until 1954 when Base Commander First Class Floyd A Byrd ordered all naval personnel living ashore must leave for their wartime deployment…..the command staff decided not move any civilian workers since this would have posed a security risk….the last Naval Air Station departure took place on October 17th 1954…………..thus beginning more than 50 years where #Daniabech resides today………………….
