As well as providing an easy platform upon which shooters could position their telescopes however they pleased, this invention would later become known as the Jensen Scopes Projection System (JSP). Dania Beach is a city located on the Gulf of Mexico in Duval County, Florida. The population was 38,032 as of 2010. The city began as part of the Mobile Bayou area and became part of Dania Beach when the Mobile Bayou Improvement Company was organized in 1902. The first white settlers to Dania Beach were David and Elizabeth Beaumont who arrived in 1835 from England. They started a small store on the beachfront and named it Beaumont's Store after themselves. In 1839, they bought 4 acres (1 km2) of land along the beach for $200 from John Covington. They built a small cabin which they named "Beach House". They operated their store until 1840 when they sold it to John Bogue who renamed it Bogue's Store. In 1842, George Fenton acquired 2 acres (0.8 km2) of land atSand Key with intentions of founding a town there but never did because he died before he could do so. In 1850, John Trench purchased 1/4 acre (0.14 km2) of land atBoca Raton for $350 from Jno Ayerouns and named it Trench's Landing after himself (). He also built a small dock to serve his landing(). By 1870, Trench had developed what is now known as Trench’s Landing into an important commercial center with wharfage, aboarding vessels for shipment upMobile Bayou or down its tributaries such as Venice Boulevard (), and passenger service between Tampa () and Fort Myers (). In 1880, Trench sold his landing to Capt Wm Ladd who renamed it Ladd’s Landing (). After being passed through several ownership changes over time including that by Capt Jno Ledbetter in 1907-1910 then by Mrs Jno Ledbetter 1942-1945 before becoming property belonging to Duval County 1973-1975 then finally reverting back to Mr Ladd 1975-1980; alluding to Duval County’s role within its history during this period), Ladd’s Landing eventually became Dania Beach proper (). In 1915, local developer Harry Eckert subdivided some 0.5 acres (0.20 km2) near downtown Dania Beach into 133 lots which yielded an initial value of $6 million (). Eckert built homes on top of these Lots throughout most of 1916 until sales stopped due to World War I .
