Cutler Bay is a small town located in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 598 at the 2010 census. Cutler Bay is part of the Ocala-Ft. Lauderdale-Boca Raton metropolitan area. Cutler Bay was founded on November 2, 1906 by J.C. Cutler and his brother George as a fishing village on Lake Worth Boulevard about 15 miles west of downtown Ocala. In 1915, the name was changed to Cutler Bay after J.C.'s father, John Cutler Sr., who also founded Plantation Key Marina and had many interests in the community such as citrus production and real estate development. The first post office was established in 1907 and closed in 1912 due to lack of mail service from inland Palm Beach County; however, the town continued to function as a small stop on local road trips until 1926 when it became its own incorporated municipality under state law #14-1016 with a population of 507 people (later increased to 1,031). In 1933, Mabel Ladd purchased land adjacent to Cutler Bay's eastern shoreline which would become known as "The Lakes" subdivision; this expansion led to an increase in traffic and parking problems around busy bayfront streets which prompted then-Mayor Harry Averill to call for severe restrictions on automobile access within the new subdivision starting in 1934 until 1953 when all entrances were opened up completely including beaches that bordered Cutler Bay Community Park which continues today as one of Ocala's most popular assets for residents and visitors alike - both during summer months when temperatures can reach 90 degrees F (32 degrees C), and during fall & winter seasons when temperatures are much lower but still chilly enough for activities such as sledding or ice skating! (Please note that some photos below may be outdated since they occurred before The Lakes Subdivision opened) On October 10th 1955 old Cutler Bay Post Office building burned down while occupied by Mrs Tom Hallstrom leaving only her cat Alive inside! Although this building has been replaced by several other buildings over the years it stands today still serving mainly locals who gather there every Saturday morning for coffee - unfortunately no tourists ever visit now that there is an active dry erase board next door advertising "No Pets Allowed!"
