When the Cutler Bay area was first settled in the 1800s, there were no guns and people used spears, bows and arrows. The first gun that was brought to Cutler Bay was a musket from England. In 1847, a store called "The Arsenal" was opened in Cutler Bay by J.H. Prentice. It is believed that the store traded in guns and ammunition for items such as soy sauce and rice. In 1898, a post office called "The Arsenal" was also opened in Cutler Bay by H C Andrews. At this time, CutlerBay had a population of around 100 people. In 1907, A W Fertig closed his grocery store in town and moved his business to Fort Myers Beach where he operated a grocery store until 1942 when he closed his business again at age 93 years old. He is still remembered today as the last person to open a grocery store in Fort Myers Beach before it became an shopping mall!
Cutler Bay is a census-designated place located in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,848 at the 2010 census. Cutler Bay is part of the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Cutler Bay was Fenton Hargrave who arrived with his family in 1835. He built a cabin on the bayou and named it Cutler's Harbor after himself and his brother John Cutlers (1796-1865) who had settled near Gainesville two years earlier. By 1860, Cutler's Harbor had become a small town with a post office, store, and churches. In 1886, the town of Cutlers Bay was incorporated as a village by charter from the State of Florida under the name "Cutlersbay". The first Mayor of Cutlersbay was Wm C. Addison (1854-1929). In 1924, Cutler's Bay became an unincorporated community again when it merged with neighboring Clearwater Beach to form Clearwater Beach Village effective June 1st 1924. Since then CutlersBay has been constantly being developed - becoming one of Jacksonville’s most popular communities for shopping and entertainment as well as home to several high school athletic teams including its own football team – all while remaining largely rural until recently!

Cutler Bay is a town in Nassau County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. Cutler Bay was founded by John Cutler and his family in 1851 as a small settlement on the bayou that now bears his name. The Cutler family operated a ferry service to Inverness Harbor until 1903 when they discontinued operations due to lack of customers. In 1911, John Cutler's grandson and namesake, John Cutler III, opened a store in what is today known as Cutlers Bay and continued the business until it closed in 1978. The store was later rebuilt on Boca Raton Blvd., which remains its current address today. In 1965, local resident Leroy Aiken donated land for an agricultural college which would become University of Central Florida (UCF). UCF would eventually be renamed Florida Atlantic University after Aiken's death in 1985. Aiken Boulevard currently runs perpendicular to the original boundary between Cutlers Bay and Boca Raton where Aiken Street meets US-1/US- Reconstruction Highway number 15 before turning east into cutler bay Boulevard continuing past UCF campus before terminating at US-1 again near Kennedy Space Center
