During World War II, Americans began using bipods for combat purposes and eventually produced versions designed specifically for this purpose. This rifle became known as the Australian Rifleman Chieftain and saw service in Australia during both World Wars II and Korea. After World War II ended, many American companies began producing sniper rifles including Browning & Co., Ruger & Co., Colt Firearms Corporation, Winchester Repeating Arms Company, Sig Sauer AG (now Sigmon), Savage Arms Company, Black Hills Ammunition Company, FN Herstal AG (now Steyr) and Remington Arms Company among others.During Vietnam Era America exported over 1 million military assault rifles to South Vietnam alone

A post office was established in 1876, and the community name derived from the bay where it sat. The first settler was James Haggerty. In 1912, the United States Post Office moved to Cutler Bay from Ocala. In 1957, a small gasoline station and convenience store were built in Cutler Bay by Jack Andresen; it was subsequently known as Andresen's store until 1979 when it became an ExxonMobil gas station and convenience store called The Covey'. In 1984, Bob Kapp bought the store from Andresen. He operated it until his death in 2006. In 1990 a large home on State Road 912 near Cutler Bay caught fire after being set by someone who did not know thatHome rule for Truman county does not allow open burning of tires or other objects larger than 3 inches diameter or 8" long without special permission from property owner- state road 912 is closed to vehicular traffic during this time frame

Cutler Bay is a small town in Panhandle County, Florida, United States. Cutler Bay was founded by German immigrants in 1851. The community has since grown to include a population of around 1,000 people. Cutler Bay is located on the central panhandle of Florida and is bordered to the north by Jacksonville and to the east by Tallahassee. Cutler Bay was originally named "Keller" after George Keller, who donated land for the settlement. The name was changed to Cutler in 1872 when Jens Olsen became its first postmaster. In 1893, the community purchased from James Worthy an acreage at present-day Cutler Bay for $1 per year providing water and access to saltwater boats for fishing and pleasure boating. Since it's founding, Cutler Bay has been home to various businesses including lumberyards, breweries, boatbuilders, drugstores and manufacturing plants; however all but one have now closed or moved away over time. Two notable exceptions are K&L Gates Distributors (now part of Kroger) which traces its roots back to 1898 when two brothers started selling groceries from their father's farm wagon near what is now downtown Cutler bay; and Gulfport Brewing Company which opened in 1916 as the first commercial brewery in Panhandle county. The first post office was established at Cutler bay on November 12th 1861 by Fritsch & Haggerty with Pendergast as Postmaster until 1865 due to military service within Confederate States of America during the American Civil War Additionally most residents through out history lived off agriculture so there were few services available such as schools or hospital until well into the 20th century . Today many of those that remain enjoy keeping close ties with their historical counterparts while enjoying modern amenities such as shopping malls and hospitals nearby
