Crestview is a small town in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 9,824 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. Crestview is located on the western side of Miami-Dade County and borders with Indian Harbour to the north and Biscayne Bay to the east. The ZIP Code for Crestview is 33609. The name "Crestview" originated from a white settlement established by pioneers in 1836 on an estate near present day Coral Gables.Today, Crestview's economy revolves around its location as an upscale bedroom community for southern Florida and its many cultural attractions including its own golf course, shopping center, movie theater, professional sports team (the Miami Marlins) and numerous restaurants and bars. The first settlers in what would become CrestVIEW were Methodists from North Carolina who arrived in 1836 seeking religious refuge during the American Civil War. They founded a log cabin church and school on this site which they named Montero Chapel after their Spanish missionary father Friar Francisco Montero de la Vega y Costilla. After years of dedication by these early settlers, Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1849 with Revd Dr John Pemberton as pastor followed by Revd James Ladd as first superintendent until his death in 1861 due to yellow fever outbreak that swept South America at that time; thus ending missions operations along the Gulf Coast of South America for some time! In 1886 developers Wm Hargrave & Bros began purchasing tracts of land within today’s CrestVIEW limits from native Seminole Indians who had been cultivating acres here since before European contact! Development continued apace with new streets being laid out including SW 8th Avenue becoming “Highway A1A” soon after it was extended westward from US 1 into Broward County! In 1893 developer Rufus Ewing purchased adjoining acreage now known as SW corner NW 6th Street/ Worth Avenue From original owner Mrs Anna Beecham Ewing for $675 – making her one of FIRST women to own property within today’s CrestVIEW boundaries! ThisPurchase marked perhaps THE beginning of what would be future homeowner friendly regulations governing home development back then – rules still exist today courtesy OFERING programs like ours! The growth continuing through World War I saw businesses expand such as J C Penney department store opened in 1924 followed shortly thereafter by Sears Roebuck & Co., Incorporated moving into their current building on NE First Ave which has been home to Sears ever since! With more families coming down here looking for easier access to good jobs opportunities during those difficult times – witness our rapidly growing medical industry over time which now employs over 1700 people right here in our town proper folks?!?!! etc etc….. Today we continue experiencing rapid growth thanks largely to our excellent public schools system where students are excelently educated both academically AND creatively!!! What could be better than that eh?!?

In 1992, Fort Myers Beach ceded control of its portion of Coral Gables to Palm Beach County so that all three municipalities could be annexed into one municipality under their new name; this annexation resulted in the loss of most of CrestVIEW'S land surface area but preserved much of its downtown core which remains today one of the most vibrant parts of Miami-Dade County From humble beginnings as a small farming community with only fourteen homes in 1902 to becoming an Economic Powerhouse thanks to such successful businesses as Allstate Insurance Company and A&W restaurant chain during the 1950s through 1970s when it experienced rapid growth due largely to waves of military installations and jobs brought about by South Florida's aerospace industry; from being served up fresh fruits & vegetables from local farms at grocery store locations along Sunrise Boulevard into what is now well over two dozen restaurants & bars catering not just exclusively or primarily to residents & visitors living near or within walking distance but also those working or commuting within easy reach across several bridges spanning I-95/I-4 via state Routes 1A/1B allthe way down Sunrise Boulevard serving nearly every amenity you could dream off long ago vanished overnight leaving behind evidence including beautiful old buildings still standing today more than sixty years later simply accessible by footpath taking you right insidewallowing waist deep historic Cass Corridor Annexation Lake Okeechobee
