Crestview is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 30,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood area and is bordered by Kendall to the north, Plantation to the east, Davie to the south-east and Boca Raton to the west. The history of target shooting in Crestview began as early as 1892 when an organization known as "The Centenary Club" set up a shooting range on what is now Northwest Fourth Street. After being closed for a few years due to lack of funding, it reopened in 1907 under new management and continues to be run today by descendants of original owners. In 1912, Crestview's first major sporting event took place when its city government placed an order for 6 rifles from Canada for use at an international exposition being held in Miami Beach. In 1925, American Legion post #3 put on their annual rifle match at the old North Broward High School Grounds which became one of the most popular events in town with over 100 shooters from throughout Broward County participating. The match has been held every year since then with varying results depending on weather conditions but always resulting in lots of fun for participants and spectators alike!
