Crestview is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Daytona Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. Crestview has been home to many businesses and people since its development in the early 1800s. The first settlers in Crestview were farmers who arrived in 1821. By 1825, Crestview had a post office and three schools. In 1828, General James Wilkinson built his plantation on what is now US-441 near present-day Centerville Road. He named it Wilkinson's Plantation after himself and his brother-in-law Richard Wilkinson. From this plantation, other family members began farming in the area that would eventually become Crestview Township: John Wilkinson (1829), Nathan Williamson (1830), James Kendall (1834), Daniel Hogue (1835), , Cyrus Morey (1836). In 1839, Captain George Armstrong founded Fort Armstrong on Pensacola Bayou just east of today's Creek Road and northwest of today's intersection of US-441 and Centerville Road. He named it Fort Armstrong after himself and two friends from Virginia: Captain John Armstrong and Major William Armistead Brownell Sr.. Fort Armstrong served as an outpost for missions to explore the area around Pensacola Bayou for trade with Spanish colonists living along those waterways. Captain George Armstrong soon abandoned FortArmstrong when he discovered Seminole Indians raiding his property nearby; he never returned to live there again. Captain George Catellus also established a trading post at Today's Creek near where US-441 meetsCenterville Road in 1840; it was known as Catellus' Landing until 1830 when it became known as Clearwater Trading Post courtesy of Captains Gouverneur Morrissey & Samuel Bowles IV.) In 1841, both captains moved their posts downstream along Pensacola Bayou to New Port Royal where they continued trading with the Spanish colonists until their departure during the American Civil War under President Abraham Lincoln’s proclamation – effectively ending Spanish colonial rule over much of Florida! AfterFortArmstrong was abandoned by its participants during America's civil war northward expansion into central Florida proceeded unchecked due largely to political correctness battles raging within centralized government bureaucracies…settlers arriving from Georgia& Tennessee began moving into northeastern Polk County beginning about 1850 primarily because timber timbered hills dotting northwestern corner of county offered more productive land than areas nearer Tampa or St Petersburg/Clearwater Rushesman such as Ocala[sic] or Miami [sic], although some excellent prospects were located near Live Oak Swamp & Cypress Gardens which are still being mined commercially today! prominent citizens among these early pioneers were David Siple[Manager Emeritus - Fire Department Headquarters - Lakeland], Mrs Rufus Kingseed[Postmaster - First National Bank Building - Main Street], Capt Horace Easley Sr., Wm J McNeill Jr., Dr A M Coleman

Crestview is a small town in Osceola County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kissimmee, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area. Crestview is located on State Road 2 about 20 miles northeast of downtown Kissimmee and 40 miles northwest of Fort Myers Beach. The first permanent settlers in Crestview were two families from Georgia who journeyed westward during the 1830s looking for new land to purchase and settled near Clearwater on what is now Indian Creek Boulevard. By 1835, a post office had been established there and by 1840 it had five residents. A landing place (later named "CrestVIEW") was located near present-day Crestview Boulevard and Indian Creek Boulevard where logs were piled high to create a landing point for vessels trying to enter or leave Lake Okeechobee. This initial settlement was later abandoned and replaced by more permanent structures such as stores, homes, churches and schools. In 1851 the first school in Crestview was opened by Mrs. Caryl Gentry with twelve students in her home which she shared with her husband Mr. John Gentry until his death in 1865; that same year the Genterys organized their own school district which included Crestview Cemetery School District #2 which became operational September 1st 1851 under Board of Education leadership of Mrs.(Miss) Anna Haggerty & MRS.(Mrs.) James Aiken who also served as Superintendent from November 15th 1860-March 14th 1861 after Anna's death from Typhoid Fever contracted while visiting family members in Jacksonville; these educators led to the annexation of adjacent Osceola County by Florida on February 14th 1866 bringing much needed rural infrastructure into our state including some very fine schools like Mrs.( Miss) Anna Haggerty's wonderful Crestview High School today! After seven years of hard work within this ever growing district we closed its doors when Dr.(Dr.) Jerald(Jared) Wexler purchased it from Mrs.(Miss)Anna Haggerty on January 25th 1875 just prior to move his operations into what would become known as Miami Lakes Elementary School Annexation making us one hundred fifty nine (109), three (3), ninety three (93), four (4) Spellings including fifteen (15), thirty two (32), five hundred fifty nine (549), sixteen seventy one(1671). KISSIMMEE SCHOOL DISTRICT #1 formed February 3rd 1912 following dissolution of original Miami Lakes Elementary School District #2 effective January 25th 1912 resulting in unification of all former Schools within KISSIMMEE SCHOOL DISTRICT #1! On December 5th 1915 Hurricane First made landfall near Cape Canaveral just south side Of US 192 crossing over Toonapahoe River then barreling through central Osceola County dumping over 100 feet OF WATER & REMOVING OVER ONE HALF TON OF STONE FROM ROADSIDE deep inside our county - this destructive storm left an estimated $500 MILLION IN DAMAGE throughout Central Florida - total destruction reached well over 300 Homes destroyed or damaged! Many local businesses lost their entire contents becoming homeless along with many Cross Keys Hardware Store & several other large Businesses! As people started streaming back into town they discovered their homes were looted both before & after hurricane hit - something that still remains unsolved decades later!!! The National Guard was called out to help but instead found themselves fighting a pitched battle against locals determined not to let anyone return home without everything they owned!!! Aftermath: Many citizens decided not to rebuild due to lack of resources or money while others worked diligently rebuilding all around town starting with St Andrews Presbyterian Church rebuilt using local lumber including cedar shingles added during restoration efforts funded primarily by anonymous donors thru Fundraiser events held throughout the community followed up afterwards via email solicitation urging additional donations? As you can see from this short history little has changed since 1915!!! Today there are few if any remnants remaining outside Historic CrestVIEW!
