Crestview is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. It is located on the Gulf of Mexico about 20 miles south of Tampa and 30 miles north of Jacksonville. The population was 3,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town name comes from Lafarge Crest (a limestone peak) and Hernando de Soto's Expedition passed through it on their way to found Pensacola in 1519. The first settler in CrestVIEW was James Wetherall who set up a farm there in 1853. In 1907, John Pemberton built his home at 12th Street and US 19 which remains standing today as one of CrestVIEW's most notable landmarks. In 1925, the Works Progress Administration put CrestVIEW into effect as part of its New Deal program to help improve local housing stock and create jobs for local residents. Many homes were built then that still stand today including Mrs Pemberton's house on 12th Street which still serves as an official residence for the Town Council and Mayor. It wasn't until after World War II when CrestVIEW really hit its stride with many people moving there from all over the country to work in shipyards or other industries during those wartime years. After the war, things slowed down a bit but by 1970s most everyone had left for good leaving behind only a few buildings from what once was a very vibrant community center complete with movie theater, grocery store, post office, bank and more now just stones scattered around near Interstate 495/US 19 exit 11A which also happens to be where much of our current downtown core sits today

Crestview is a town in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 8,726 at the 2010 census. Crestview has been inhabited by humans since prehistoric times and is thought to be one of the oldest towns in Florida. It was founded as a small frontier settlement on the east side of Fort Lauderdale Bay in 1859. In 1892, it became an incorporated municipality and then a city in 1907. The name "Crestview" comes from two Seminole words meaning "a peak or height" and "views". The town's first store opened on November 5, 1859, just south of what is now known as State Road 7 (now US-27). At that time it was part of Miami-Dade County and had a population of about 150 people. By 1862, Crestview had grown to over 500 residents and had its own schoolhouse and doctor. In 1892, with annexation by Fort Lauderdale proper creating new municipal boundaries, CrestVIEW became the largest city in Broward County with a population of over 10 thousand people! Today there are more than 30 businesses located throughout downtown including several banks (Banco Santander – National Association), major retailers ( TJ Maxx - JCPenney Co., Sears & Roebuck), Apalachicola Casino Resort (owned by MGM Resorts International) and many smaller shops too numerous to list here all together! Additionally there are several parks such as Centennial Park which offers excellent views across downtown FtLauderdale; Booker T Washington Park near I-395; Overlook Park off US-27 just north of USF Everglades Blvd.; Clearwater Beach which has multiple beaches including Clearwater Beach Pier; Cypress Creek Preserve which contains both mangroves and creek channels dating back to prehistoric times; The Preserve also includes two golf courses: Pinehurst Golf Course adjacent to Interstate 95 where whiteNational Champions Tiger Woods AND Phil Mickelson play each year during Presidents Cup weekend; As well as numerous museums/galleries along Center Street Circuit Boulevard including Art Institute Of Chicago Museum(the Chicago museum!), Kendall Square Shopping Center(home to Sears & Roebuck) - home to Macy's department stores among others... Additions continued until World War II when most manufacturing shifted inland due to wartime production shortages etc., but some local businesses survived into peacetime!: Municipalsponsored events are usually held annually around Memorial Day or Independence Day: A Picnic for Kids event on Saturday featuring face painting/magic shows for children ages 4-10 followed by an afternoon recess at various locations within the park while parents have time for lunch nearby; Fourthof July fireworks show from dusk until dawn at FtLauderdale Battlefield Park free Admission outdoors only... There have even been organized Bike Polo tournaments at various locations throughout the summertime!
Crestview was founded in 1892 by W. C. Preston and his wife, Emma. The first post office opened in Crestview on October 1, 1892. The population of Crestview grew rapidly due to the area's natural resources and its location at the mouth of the Kissimmee River. In 1903, a railroad was built through CrestVIEW and the town became incorporated as a city on November 14, 1903. By 1907, there were over 100 businesses in Crestview with a population of 4,000 people. The growth of the city led to increased traffic and noise problems which led to plans for soundproofing homes and businesses in 1933.
