Today, Crestview is home to one of the most popular gun magazines in the United States, The NRA’s American Rifleman. The magazine was founded in 1959 and has been published by the NRA since then. The first gun mag in Crestview was the “BSA Gun Shop” which opened on December 1st, 1935. At that time, all guns were purchased through licensed dealers and there was no open carry allowed! It wasn’t until 1978 that permits were finally issued allowing open carry within the city limits! Their mills produced lumber for important buildings such as churches and county courthouses across South Florida. Today, Crestview is known for its antique shops, golf courses (including an 8-hole course), convenient location close to Interstate 75 and Fort Myers Airport, as well as its wide variety of cultural experiences available within walking or driving distance including art galleries, restaurants and nightlife options.

Crestview is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,965 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Crestview was J.H. Greene who arrived in 1892. The town was named after Mount Crested Rock which stands just to the east of present-day Crestview and forms the eastern border of the township. A post office called Crestview was established in 1902, and remained in operation until it closed in 1907. In 1915, two brothers named Waco founded Waco Estates near present-day Anthem and opened a grocery store there that became one of the most successful Grocery stores west of Miami Beach. Other early businesses include a Creamery and a Lumberyard; both closed by 1924 due to competition from larger shopping centers opening up around that time in nearby Jacksonville. In 1927, Cement Company purchased Pittsburgh's first cement manufacturing plant southeast of Jacksonville for use as an assembly line for new housing being built near Clearwater Beach; this led to growth within Crestview as more people began commuting to work at Clearwater Beach through local buses or trains rather than drive into Jacksonville each morning! During World War II, many residents worked on various military installations located throughout southern Florida including Fort Myers (nowFort Myers Beach), Charlie Don'ts Army Airfield outside MacDill AFB Florida (now Tampa), Plantation Bend Naval Air Station outside St Petersburg (now Pinellas Park), Plantation Bend Naval Ammunition Depot outside Boynton Beach (now Palm Harbor) and finally Point Lookout Naval Radio Station northeast of Fort Myers along with other related facilities such as an airport which served as landing ground for naval aircraft during World War II before eventually becoming surplus property and being converted into an auto dealership park known today as I-95/I-4A Speedway Boulevard). After the war ended, many residents left for various reasons including return home to their families elsewhere or relocation back east where jobs were available; however some residents did stay behind such as Mr./Mrs./Dr.(last name withheld) who operated a small produce stand adjacent to their house until it burned down in 1978 after 25 years business! The current downtown core developed primarily due to development by Crestview Development Corporation beginning circa 1994 when developer/manager Art Weisman took over management from previous owner John Kappos following his death; subsequent owners included Willard Pozzo Jr., Dean Reynolds III and currently Rick Smithson who purchased portions of Kappos' original land comprising what is now downtown Crestview from Pozzo in 2002 - making it one of only three townships operating under this common ownership arrangement statewide! Partially due to its location close to Interstate 95 making it easy access by motorists via exits 24(I-95)/US 1A/SR 341Bjuries sustained during Hurricane Ivan & Tropical Storm Fay have caused some inconvenience & damage resulting from high winds & rain events but have also resulted in development whereby numerous restaurants have relocated inside municipal limits including several sizable retail "anchor" developments having been erected atop former military bases situated around town center - all helping contribute towards maintaining robust commercial activity within downtown CrestVIEW since 2005 although gusty wind patterns continue occasionally causing power outages during particularly severe thunderstorms adverse circumstances! In recent years despite continued high winds conditions often resulting▼in paralysis ▼many people are still Downtown doing what they do best.......enjoying life while you can!!!!!
