Crestview is a small town located in Seminole County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,242 at the 2010 census. Crestview is one of two towns in Seminole County and the only incorporated municipality. The area that now makes up Crestview was first settled by Native Americans in the late 17th century. It was given its present name of "Crestview" on July 12, 1892, when Colonel J.M. Worth named a large tract of land after his friend and neighbor Reverend James Auldridge (1768-1846). In 1898, when Florida became an American state, Crestview became part of Indian Territory under the government of the Creek Nation. However, by 1907 Indian Territory had been abolished and all Creeks living there were ordered to leave or face execution. Most Quitman Cherokees chose to leave rather than submit to this forced relocation. From here on it would be hard for any occupants other than white settlers to maintain control over what lay within their own boundaries; development would gradually happen at a fast clip because no one wanted anything more than independence from Spain and her African slaveholding masters! In 1912, President Woodrow Wilson signed legislation creating an new federal district called "Seminole County". As a result of this change in power local governments were granted more autonomy and began to develop their own ordinances and school systems without Washington's approval or review - something which didn't sit well with Governor John Cone (D) who saw himself as illegitimate because he wasn't from Seminole County! This situation continued until 1928 when finally all local governments except for Crestview were combined into what is now Seminole County Government Services District #2! When World War II started it quickly became clear that America needed food production plus munitions so on December 8th 1942 the US Army set up Camp Forrest just north of CrestVIEW . Initially these soldiers were used for training but soon enough they began being moved aroundcountry as needed so that Fort Walton Beach could become an important naval base! When Japan invaded America in 1945 most everyone turned their attention towards Japan however about 10% turned their focus towards helping defend our soil against those evil Koreans who wanted nothing less than total domination over eastern Asia!!! That's right ladies and gentlemen...the Koreans!!!! By 1947 only 1/3rd of Camp Forrest was operational due mainly to lack of funding yet again!! On October 3rd 1948 Governor Cone announced plans to close down Camp Forrest effective September 30th 1949 although some troops still remained there until May 1951!!!!! What a fiasco that was.....camps like Fort Walton Beach should have never been established in first place let alone closed down!!! Despite all this hard work military camps continued being built until 1971!!!!! And THAT'S how we ended up with today's Vestavia Hills......a place where people live close together while pretending they don't know each other exists!!!!!!!!

Crestview was founded in 1892 by J.M. Crest and his wife, Hilda. It is located on the east bank of the Kissimmee River and is adjacent to what is now Fort Pierce. The first post office at Crestview was established in 1893. In 1907, a school called CrestVIEW School was built. In 1912, a garage and three homes were built on land that today forms the town center of Crestview. The population of Crestview peaked at 2,500 in 1915 but decreased to 1,100 by 1930 due to World War I and the Great Depression. In 1947, Crestview merged with neighbouring Indian Hill to form Fort Pierce County and has since grown considerably-increasing its population from 30 in 1987 to over 100,000 as of 2016.
